Check with the county you were born in. You should be able to get a certified copy.
LA County if you were born after 1964 they can print it on the spot.
Prior to that, they have not yet digitized them and need to look it up and mail it (6 weeks).
The marriage certificate is only needed to verify a name change produced by the marriage.
It can also be used to verify community property if you wish to put your spouse's handgun on your permit. After range qualification and permit processing, the gun will literally be registered to both of you.
If you were born outside of the country or for some other reason there is no way to obtain an original certified copy of your BC, give them a call and see what they suggest.
