This was extremely helpful. Had to postpone last year for obvious reasons but now I know what to expect. Thanks

The document portion is all done with a Deputy / Detective through a glass, so it gives you more of a visit to the DMV type of feel. It was a great experience. Preparation for the interview is key. The more you prep, the more comfortable you’ll feel. A couple of days before my actual interview date I even took a trip and drove past the Sheriff’s Dept. Just to see the route I’d be taking and to make myself aware of any unexpected construction zones and things that may delay arrival time. There is a 25MPH zone on 3rd street, just East of Arrowhead. Be careful if that’s a route you’d take. Double and triple check your docs. My process was I printed out the 2 page Instruction breakdown. I then took a pen and as I visually verified each document was there I placed a check next to it’s name on the instructions and I put a date next to that check. For the Original and Copy section, I didn’t check it off until I verified the original and that a copy of that original was right behind it. I did this more than a few times. Don’t sign or date anything until you get there and are asked to. Take your entire utility bill. NOT just the tear off section that some bills have.

The only portion of the interview that’s face to face (without a glass barrier between you and the Deputy / Detective / or Clerk that’s assisting you) is the photo and the livescan fingerprinting. For that portion you go to the back.

The staff is amazing. Seriously. Do your part and you’ll be good to go.

While not directly related to CCW's I thought this video was awesome.

Just had the most uncanny feeling of deja vu. I believe Deputy Verral taught my class, and Deputy Guillen may have as well, but I spent some time outside the front of the building after the class concluded and I am a handicapped person (part of the reason I got the CCW). I swear I was going to pass out in front of the building, but thankfully I did not.

I am so happy to hear they were able to successfully treat this person in this emergency, wow

I had my "interview" the day before you and I got the same DMV vibe. I half expected to be brought into a room and asked a handful of questions. Instead it was [basically] only four questions asked: a) did you, or do you, go by any other names or alias? b) do you drink? if so, how much do you drink? c) do you have any non-moving/moving violations, aside from parking tickets? if so, how many? d) have you ever been so angry that you have assaulted someone, like punching them in the face? lol

I laughed at that last question.

The process went as smoothly and as quickly as possible. I was also told to expect a call. I didn't ask timeline because I assumed it will be months anyway.

Hey, everyone! I would like to go for my San Bernardino CCW. Does anyone have specific suggestions regarding how to write the "reason"? Does anyone have specific examples that successfully used that they would be willing to share? I promise I will NOT plaguerize!!!!

                        Where do you live?
                        Where do you work?
                        How's your commute?
Do you ever go somewhere where it might take help a while to get to you.
Are you familiar with any events that that have happened that may have turned out better if someone had a firearm to defend themselves and others?

Self/personal defense is considered good cause. You can't put down 2 words though. You need to expand on why you feel the need to defend yourself.

                        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Congrats. Pretty much how mine went.

Thing is that "go home and wait for a phone call/email" thing is going to be long. My interview was on July 8th, 2020 and I still haven't heard a thing.
I will stand for truth even if I stand alone.

"I desire a CCW permit for personal protection against criminals that may do me harm."

During my 2019 renewal class, the SBSD deputies encouraged the class to tell other people to apply for a permit using that as the good cause statement.
