      *SEEKING INFO*

Anybody know what the status is for new (not renewal) CCW's is?

Had my in person interview July 8th, 2020. I know they called my work about 2 weeks later because my boss told me so.

After that I've heard nothing. I've emailed twice with no reply and I've called but the number just rings.

I had my CCW in Orange County so there shouldn't be anything that disqualifies me.

I heard SBCS process was quick and efficient but so far I haven't seen that. I know Covid really screwed things up but I thought I'd at least get an email or letter explaining what the situation is. This has been very frustrating.

      Anyone know what's up?

Whoever told you that it was quick and efficient lied to you.

That being said they probably told you that things are backed up and not to call them, they call you. You did the right thing, first by sending them an email.

You may have put yourself lower on their priority list by sending multiple emails and calling.

I just did my renewal and one of the things that they mentioned in the training was that Sarah will come in and check emails daily. Those who have sent multiple emails tend to be put lower on the list. She does the same thing for phone calls.

I'm not too familiar with the OCSD CCW department, but in San Bernardino we have a very small unit taking care of all of our CCW needs. If I remember correctly it's only about 4-5 people doing all the work.

As frustrating as it sounds, just be patient.

        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Covid has caused closures and backlogs.
DOJ background checks are through the roof.
          CCW apps have increased.
The SBSD CCW unit is staffed by FOUR people.
As already mentioned your repeatedly contacting them may
very well be slowing down the proces.
Not just for you but others as well.

I haven't repeatedly contacted them. I've sent two emails since July and I've called 3 times looking for info but no one ever answered so they have no idea I even called.

But thank you both for your reply. I appreciate the info.
I will stand for truth even if I stand alone.

If no one ever answered you are calling the wrong number.

For those who have taken the Zoom class, is it an all day thing?

Or is it something that I can have running on the background as I work?

Trying to decide if I need to take a day off work for it or not.

                Thanks

                  I have not taken it.

If it's anything like the regular class it's about 4 hours long and they are looking for interaction. If you are just running it in the background you may not notice when they look to you for some interaction.

Not San Bernardino County related but a helpful heads up for those looking for extra reciprocity.

For anyone interested in getting their AZ CCW the process is super fast. I figured I’d get mine while I’m waiting for the process to get the CA CCW.

Mailed off the packet with required documents on 2/5

I just received my AZ CCW Permit today - 2/17

                      12 days!!

Private Message me if you have any questions so this doesn’t turn into an AZ thread.

Special Thanks to 38 Special for giving me the heads up!

WEGC has an efficient renewal process. Arrive a few minutes early so they can check your paperwork - be sure to print out your waiver and bring it along with your paid receipt.

Was there the 9th for a 4pm group.
Waiver and range rules in hand.
Paid when I got there (incase I needed to reschedule).
Assigned a bench, instructions, load em up, shoot em up, then out of there.
Packed up and back on the road at 4:22pm with range card in hand.

10 rounds of ammunition for each firearm (most calibers available for sale if needed, please call ahead to confirm)
WEGC: 30 rounds of factory ammunition in box (per firearm)[only 10 rounds needed to qualify]
                              Prado: 10 ROUNDS PER GUN
AVGC: A minimum of 30 rounds of ammunition for each gun (must be factory new, no re-loads or steel core)
The extra rounds at WEGC are "just in case rounds". Most sbooters will fire just 10 rounds total per firearm.

On a recent qualifying evening at WEGC, two shooters had issues.

A woman had several failures to feed, and when she cleared the firearm the rounds went downrange into the dirt. She had extra rounds with her and was allowed to reload and finish firing. The ftf isdue looked to be limp wristing.

A guy had maybe 5 failed to fire rounds. He was allowed to reload from his plastic box of ammo, and those rounds failed to fire too. He said they were factory, but they sure looked to be reloads. Anyway, he was done since he had no more ammo. Another shooter spotted the guy five rounds to finish up and those rounds fired just fine...so the dude brought bad ammo to the range. Sheesh.

The bottom line is if one goes to 66 or Prado with just 10 rounds and there is an issue with a few of the rounds, they could be in a pickle.

12 days is actually long for AZ. They are incredibly efficient in AZ. Your app must have raised a few flags.
