What's up everyone! First post here. Did my interview yesterday with Detective Diaz. Awesome dude! Had a quick question. I didn't receive any live scan paperwork with my number on it so I can check status. Is there anyway I can still get it? Just an FYI...while I was doing my fingerprints there was another detective going over the process with another applicant and he asked how long it's taking to get background check back. He told him that it's been averaging around 6 months but they have been starting to recently come back in 3 months. Not sure if that is for everyone or if they are catching up.

You should have gotten a paper after you got live Scan.. your number is on the bottom of it... The automated number was never a help for me could never find my info.. as for the time frame I'd plan on 5 to 6 months and if it comes sooner bonus... Dig your heals in and be patient lol

Yea he was, I had interviewed with him as well and the same thing happen to me. I didn't get the ATI number either. Never did follow up on it. Just thought I'd patiently wait. Been about 169 days since my interview and still waiting to hear something. Hoping soon!! 🤞🏻

Yeah the only paperwork I received was the stuff for the range. Ok good to hear I'm not the only one this has happened to and I definitely shook off the 3 month thing and I am totally prepared to wait for the 5-6 months. I'm just glad I have the opportunity to get my CCW.

I'm finally applying for my permit is San Bernardino County and I have a few questions regarding the application that I'm hoping fellow CalGunners can help me with as I don't want my application rejected or delayed for a simple misunderstanding.

The first is in reference to traffic violations in the past 5 years. I received a speeding ticked well over a year ago. I don't have the citation number and when I ordered my driving record from the DMV to try and find it, there's nothing on my record as I went to traffic school for the violation. Do I simply leave this area blank? Leave it blank and explain it in the section regarding withheld information?

There is another section entitled "Do you now have, or have you ever had, a license to carry a concealed weapon (CCW)? If yes, please enter the issuing agency name, issue date and CCW license number." Years and years ago, I held CCW's for Florida and Utah that I never renewed. I have copies of the forms I filed to receive them but I don't know my permit numbers. Again, do I simply leave this section blank? Leave it blank and explain it in the section regarding withheld information?

Any help would be appreciated. I know these things may seem minor but with the time it takes to actually receive a CCW in this county, I don't want to do anything that's going to further delay the process.

            Thank you.

I would put all info you have on the app.. if you can't remember guestamate dates... They will have your app when you interview and you can adjust at that time... They will also have your record to refresh.. they know more than the DMV record lol... Even when you are stopped and only warned...

What about a "good cause" statement? Is there something in particular San Bernardino is looking for other than "self-defense"?

Just give your reason and implement props of early release and so on it's not a big deal you'll be fine

Self defense was enough for me, my GF answered the same and Det. Perea kind of coached her into putting down something just a tad more detailed. They have a "shall issue" attitude and they aren't going to send you out of there thinking anything other than it's just a matter of time until you get your permit.

As far as your tickets and CCW's, just answer to the best of your ability and as long as you live in the county, have no felonies or warrants etc... you'll be fine.

                      This.
The interview is more of an honesty test than anything.
Reveal MORE than you think they may know (because they will know about that time you shot the spitball at Ms. Smizer in 1968...)
If you don't have specific dates or cite numbers, get them as close as you can. Same for the CCWs.

They are still effectively shall-issue, but the good cause statement needs to be fleshed out to a simple paragraph.
You like to take long walks on cool evenings in Fontana? Sketchy neighbors? Work odd hours?

One thing on employment, while it is acceptable to carry for personal protection while you are working, they will deny if employment is specifically the reason for the request. If you NEED to carry for work, they want you to go through the normal process with BSIS.

They will send your employer a simple 5-question character reference sheet. One question is whether or not a CCW is required for your job. If you are buds with your boss, make sure that he knows that he would not be doing you a favor by checking "Yes"
This has been a concern for some people, but one member works for a very liberal university and it was not a problem. I work for a liberal city and nothing has been said. HR departments are generally pretty professional, and the letter is clearly confidential.

Same here. They are doing the live scan right there during the interview, you no longer go down the hall to the left where everybody else is waiting.

I thought it was Diaz who did my paperwork but I checked again this morning and found out that it was Perea.

                          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Anyone have any idea how long the wait time is between interview and call for range day? Just had my interview on the 1st.

Is it the same for everyone or does it depend on your background?
