I read on here earlier today that we need to bring POSTAL money orders, but I can't find the post to double-check the date on it. Still applicable?

That is still correct (it's actually fairly recent news).
The problem is that people were paying with money orders that were expiring before the process could be completed.
My bank's checks did not have a 90 day limit, but it's just simpler for them to specify that they only accept "XYZ"

Quite ironic that those of us renewing can not carry at the only location where we have to buy our MO.

I am leaving in a few minutes to drive to SB to pick up my permit, about 4 weeks short of a year when I submitted the paper work.
I missed the call last Tuesday or I could have picked it up then. My range day was just the day before.
