Got my call today too, was a little worried, they called Friday and couldn't find one of my guns registered in AFS but I told them I had all dros approved paperwork and they got it figured out. Picking up tomorrow

Hook up with Captain Jon and see if you can get booked into one of his NRA Defensive Handgun classes.
Full day, you'll shoot 300 rounds.
All drawing from concealment on the clock.
Best $100 you'll spend on training.

The NRA cert will be good for Florida and other non-resident permits that want more than just a copy of your CCW... but jump on AZ right away. It'll give you just about everything that you can get (from a single CCW that provides multiple states) except Washington.

Will do, Capt. Jon was a great instructor that will be missed when he retires, I was hoping he'd be the next Sheriff. Thanks Cokebottle for all the info and advice.

Look at it this way... we'll have another good cop make it to retirement, and it will free up more time for him to work at AVGC instead of chasing meth monsters around the desert

The CCW classes are available to any applicant.
Likewise, the NRA classes, and competitions.

But like American Express says... Membership has its privileges.
I wish I lived close enough for a membership to be worthwhile.

I just looked up his NRA course. I might do the one in January. Sounds like fun.

This one is open to the public and there is no additional fee for non members.

All the instructors are NRA instructors and CCW holders.

We are doing at least one more prep class in January and are going to try and keep the prep classes going but we are still working on due to the differences at Devore (even though there shouldn't be any differences).

As of March, there will be no more classes at AVGC
