Anyone know if or when Sac County will go to 5 guns on a permit? Seems like it was supposed to happen a while back.

FAQ from 2017:Clearly, the information mandated is in the statute, and other IAs have implemented. So, the delay is cost and optics.12. How many guns can I list on my CCW permit?
At the present time only three handguns can be listed. Governor Brown signed a bill that became law January 1, 2017 that authorizes the creation of a CCW ID card. DOJ must first convene a committee to study this issue and recommend a standardized CCW ID card. It is not known what mandated information must be on the new CCW ID card or whether permit holders will be able to list more than three handguns.Comment

Might be a nice compromise if Sac County could allow one modification during each two year period. I seem to recall that a few folks were doing a lot of modifications, to more or less get around the three gun limit, which likely led to the current no modifications rule.
Allowing one per period wouldn't greatly increase workload, probably, since most folks don't modify. But two years can be a long wait.Comment

After being licensed for about 8 years now and carry everyday I leave home, i now only have 2 on my permit. g19 and sw j frame airweight. Sure we should have no limits on whatever we should carry but im far from disappointed about "only" 3. You have to qualify with each one every two years. I have a hard time understanding why would having 5 different choices be so important. Mastering 1 is the best, 2 sure...5? Oh...you need a 6/5/4/3" 1911's?Beans and BulletsComment

First, I’ve been to enough renewals to have given up on the idea that CCW holders in this county “master” their weapons. After being licensed for about 8 years now and carry everyday I leave home, i now only have 2 on my permit. g19 and sw j frame airweight. The only true advantage to having many firearms on the permit is you don’t have to lock them up to transport. The obvious problem with that is you’d have to check the permit to ensure the ones not locked up are covered and the ones not covered are locked up. That’s too hard. I carry one gun that’s on the license and everything else gets locked up (including guns also on the license).Last edited by Dvrjon; 02-15-2020, 1:38 PM.Comment

Hi all,
Just wanted to check in and say 'Hi'. Got back from MI in 2016, went there in 2000. Brought my 5 handguns and 4 longguns with me but not my AR-15 A2 lookalike. It is a DPMS, which was on the banned gun list, so being the responsible gun owner and law-abiding citizen that I am, I left it at Uncle Tom's in TN. There it resides.
So while in MI, I obtained my CCL for Ingham County. No big deal, got finger printed, took the class, paid the fees and got it. So after living here in the great state of CA a few years, I again wanted to carry. So I applied to the Sacramento County Sheriffs Dept. Not without delay. I did get through the app and interview okay, the deputy was friendly enough. So now I need the print check, again(this will make the third or fourth time already; I also have my COE). Oh, I did list the 3 pistols I wanted to carry on the app. I'd think after 2 or 3 times they would get the hint that I ain't no criminal. But here we go again, waste of money. Of course the class. The small matter of test, then qualifying at the range. Well I can tell you jumping through all of the hoops in CA are unnecessary. My experience in MI is proof. Is there gun crime in MI? Without a doubt. Are there armed robberies and murders in MI? Yes there are. However, MI is no different than CA, it only snows for six months. They realize that no matter how many laws get passed, they would only affect those of us whom follow the laws and not the criminals. CA has yet to figure this out.
So being new to the CA process, I have questions. If I don't pass the test, but pass qualification, what happens? If I pass the qualification but fail the test, what happens? What if I don't pass any of it? What if I pass everything but don,t qualify with a pistol? Or two of the pistols? Does it cost me more money? Can I charge it to Bloomberg, Feinstein, or Pelosi? I also found out I need one holster, and three magazines for each gun listed. Even more money. This is Sacramento County guys. Any recommendations for the finger prints and ccw class would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to you all. Troy LawsonComment

You have a marked ”Panther”? You could gut the lower and bring everything else, then rebuild with a $50 lower and all the happy crap we use to neuter our rifles.
separate the concepts of “training” and “qualification”. Some vendors provide a bunch of training woven into the firing qualification; others want you to shot for score and go. If you have enough training to sufficiently handle the firearms, seek simple qualification. Check with the vendor who will be doing your qualification. Their goal is to get you through the process and they are focused on that. Most have “retest”, “reshoot” policies. You have to submit proof of training passage and firearms qualification to the Sheriff to be issued. If you fail these, you can’t finish the process. (However, if you can’t get through these programs, you probably shouldn’t be walking around without a helmet.)So being new to the CA process, I have questions. If I don't pass the test, but pass qualification, what happens? If I pass the qualification but fail the test, what happens? What if I don't pass any of it? What if I pass everything but don,t qualify with a pistol? Or two of the pistols? Does it cost me more money?
None of those folks had a hand in passing the laws here, so no.
If you intend to carry concealed, you will need a holster for each pistol, anyway (unless you stuff it into your jock.) Check with various certification programs. Some don’t require holsters and some don’t require 3 mags. We know..we live here.
Sac Sheriff requires CCW prints through Sheriff facilities Livescan. From the Sheriff’s CCW Page:2. After your interview your application will be sent to the CCW Committee. The Committee meets once or twice per month and a decision regarding your CCW application will be emailed to you. This process can take up to two months depending on the Committee’s workload.
3. If approved you will receive a Contingent Approval email with instructions for completing the remainder of the CCW process (LiveScan fingerprinting, training and qualification courses and uploading two final proofs of residency). All remaining steps and the uploading of all remaining required documents must be completed within six (6) months of the date on the Approval emailYou can get the qualification done cheap, good or quick....pick 2. Recommendations for qualifications are dependent on where you live, how much you want to travel and how in depth you want the information to be. some work with local indoor ranges; some travel to the Sacramento Shooting Center (45 minutes). North area: The Gun Range
South: Check out Wes Lagomarsino’s operation.
I would encourage you to deeply review the stuff on the Sheriff’s CCW Page.

Weapons
Q: I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Am I allowed to carry it inside Sacramento International Airport?
A: Sacramento International Airport is on county property and is subject to Sacramento County Code (SCC) ordinances. The SCC prohibits carrying, transportation, use or possession of dangerous weapons upon county grounds. Guns are considered a "dangerous weapon."
The prohibitions do not apply to law enforcement officers or county employees who are required to carry a weapon to perform county business.
The complete code is listed below:
