I'm up for renewal in Sac, and noticed you're supposed to use a new DOJ form, which has a space for the "good cause" stuff, which instructions that seem to imply that "self defense" isn't enough.

Previously, we just wrote something like "I wish to carry a firearm for self defense and defense of family," and it had to be on a separate piece of paper.

I'm assuming the same language, in the box on the form, should work. But I'd appreciate any input. Thanks

FYI the one person who processes initial CCW's for DOJ is now off work, with no plans to add staff to take up the slack.

        Desertdoc,

Did the sac sheriff tell you this about DOJ? Not that I don't believe you or anything, but if true this info doesn't bode well for us folks waiting on live scan results.

Ouch! Any idea on when this "person" will return?

I suspect she will be out for a week. Whether she is working or not, it makes little difference, as she is the ONLY person at DOJ who does this work. Her bosses in the DLE want it this way as the States AG does not support 2A.

Any word on if the recent Peruta changes will have any impact on Sac county? I was already approved by SCSD and am about to start the live scan/training process but don't want to get screwed out of $400+. Thanks.

Hello, going tomorrow for my livescan. Filled everything out, but did you type in your SOC (social security number)?

Also, did you leave the employer as N/A (came like this) and for Level of Service (only DOJ was pre-checked). Just leave this alone?

Is there a statutory deadline for LiveScan results to be processed?

If not, it's a good way to kill CCWs.

I put in my SSN on my form. And yes the lady doing my prints told me not to fill in the employer portion of the form. My livescan form also had FBI already checked.

Anyone call that DOJ automated number recently to check the status of their livescan? I just called and appears there is no record of my scan lol. I'll call back and check in a few days to see if anything changes.

Hoping someone with some knowledge can confirm.

I am going in on the 15th for a modification (adding another gun to my permit) and I scanned through the Sac sheriff website but I just want to confirm. I do not need to qualify with the new gun to add it to my current permit correct? Only when I renew?

                        Hvac,

I'm pretty sure you need to qualify with any weapon you want to add to your permit.

You MUST qualify with every gun you add to your permit. I've done two modifications and had to qualify with each firearm.

                            this covers it:
Range Qualifications - You must qualify biennially (every two years) or upon renewal of your permit with the weapons(s)/type(s) listed on your permit. If you want to add or remove weapons from your permit, a qualification is required on all the weapons you want on the permit and you will need to schedule a "Concealed Weapons Permit Modification" appointment via our online appointment system.

Most training agencies have nominal prices for add-on shooting quals.

Did my lifescan today in Rancho. Pretty quick in and out. Only two people in front of me.
