RCSD will certainly be a LOT quicker than that. And you're looking at $305 through RCSD, that is if you take the class and range qual through the RCSD. Many people are getting their interview date 18 months out but are getting called to come in to complete it earlier in the 6-9 month range. Still quite a wait but worth it in my opinion. Almost every LE organization in the state showed an exponential increase in applications following the Regional Center shooting in San Brdo in December 2015. As with any governmental organization they were reactive, not proactive, when confronted with a backlog of applications that must have been literally, no bull, 6 feet tall! RCSD has since hired a lot more help in the CCW office. When I first applied it was just Deputy Aguirre all by himself. Now there are several LEOs and some support personnel involved. The wait times will only get shorter as they get caught up on that backlog.

Check out the link to the video posted above by VMCJ-3. Less than 10 minutes and some great info for you. As Kestryl has said above, get off of your butt. Get active. Start the process. Start asking questions. Start your application process. Stop listening to the naysayers. Stop doubting the process. It is definitely doable.

Now get off your *** and get it done!!

Murrieta vs RCO: I started with RSO before Murrieta started, but I would go with RSO if I had a choice. The price for Murrieta is OUTRAGEOUS. I know MPD is outsourcing it to a private company (MyCCW), but you know MPD is making $$$ on something that RSO is loosing money on.

But most importantly, psych test? WTF? It's bad enough everything we have to go through, and you want me to take a psych test? Why? I feel they are making you qualify to be a police officer just to get a CCW. It is completely unnecessary and extremely obtrusive.

Well, my interview was scheduled 7 days from my payment date. $700 is spendy sure but if I get my CCW in two months then I just look at it as I spent my gun money this year.

So I had my interview 2 weeks ago tomorrow, and last Wednesday I did my LiveScan (I actually did my class/qualification before the interview). My interview went great - which was a surprise, because I always get a near panic attack during tests and interview situations. Deputy Searles was awesome and very friendly and put me at ease (as much as I can be at ease in an interview lol!)

During the LiveScan, I was talking to the nice lady who was finger printing me. I mentioned that someone had claimed to have done the LiveScan and gotten his (initial, NOT renewal) permit 6 days later. I was very dubious about this claim. But she said that was very possible. She went even further and said that if my record was as clean as I believed, then I had a very good chance of having my permit within a week!

So I am pretty excited and anxious!

              Take care,
              Rob

Is it possible to float a GC statement at the CCW Office before I even go in for the interview?

We can kibitz and discuss among ourselves but if we're not willing to get out, get involved and do the work to make those changes and improvements they'll never happen.

Well they must be super busy as my application has been up for review since Aug. 7th. per Dept. Aguirre. (note that I am going the pre-approval route). You'd think that I would've heard back by now.

As of today, zero of my references have been contacted. As stated in long ago posts, there was a hiccup in my past (1981) and if they wanted to confirm my moral character they would've been contacted by now, one would think.

Realistically I think I'm just waiting for the denial letter to be written and sent.

I've never heard of someone's references actually being contacted. The letter is all of the contact that the department needs from the references.

                        I noticed you posted this:

Why go with the same good cause that was denied previously? If you don't mind me asking (you can PM me) what good cause was denied? I'd like to be able to add it to my list. Also, what was the feedback like from the deputies on your good cause during your interview? I'm sure they reviewed it with you, or was it not discussed?

How long after the interview with Riverside Sheriff until you find out if you get approved?

That is against HIPAA privacy rules. Those are protected health records which would require (I believe) a judge to approve this on each individual.

prior to it going into effect in 1997 I guess it was possible but now days those records are sealed pretty tight, as long as your talking about the legality of it all. People can lose their license if they were to violate HIPAA privacy rules.
