Those situations are usually considered on a totality of the circumstances, time since your history, etc. Unfortunately this is one aspect of the process that is subjective. Please let us know how it turns out for you.

Questions of this type usually hinge not upon what you did when you were "young and stupid", but whether you have since done things which indicate you are older and still stupid. (If you're still robbing banks and beating your wife, you will probably have a bumpy ride.)

Emphasize what you've learned in life since your altercations and what you've accomplished since then.

            Good luck.

If I were you I would not worry so much about that stuff from a lifetime ago. I did some seriously questionable things when I was a teenager. Once I joined the Marines all that shenanigans stopped and I became a productive member of society and all-around good guy. When I got my first CCW permit there was only a little over 300 permits in RivCo. Now I think there's over 3,600 permits! Trust me, there's a few juvenile screw ups in those 3,600+ applications.

As long as you are completely honest on the application and disclose all of that stuff then you should be fine. TWENTY years ago you were a different person than you are today. Be honest. Be thorough. Be approved!!

IF you have not watched the youtube video posted by VCMJ already then I would highly encourage you to do so. I'll embed it here for your convenience. This is an interview with Sgt Adams who runs the CCW unit for RCSO:

Once you have watched that one and have much more time on your hands then I would recommend THIS one. This is an interview with Riverside Sheriff Stan Sniff. Another enlightening foray into the RivCo CCW process:

                  Cheers!!

So from the video hes suggest to qualify before your interview. I assumed we should qualify after. Like another cgn member stated here I would also like to know I have been approved before spending the money to qualify. Should i schedule at ben Clark now before my interview date just to speed up the process?

I just had my appt finally after 2 yrs. I will be in the October 20th qualifier class. My question being If they had any doubt would they schedule you for the qualifying or not.

My guess would be no. They would schedule your qual if you've passed the interview and your GC statement is acceptable, and of course under the assumption you'll pass the live scan. I'm also scheduled for BCTC Oct 20.

Under PC 26165, they can't require you to pay for training before Good Cause is accepted. So, you are on your own if you undertake the training early. If the GC isn't accepted, you won't get your money back.
26165. (d) The applicant shall not be required to pay for any training courses prior to the determination of good cause being made pursuant to Section 26202.

Who accepts the “Good cause” Is it Stan Sniff or the deputy I interviewed with.

It goes upstairs for review, the interviewing Deputy's don't make the call, they're basically making sure all your ducks are lined up.
