Medical marijuana card is accessible via a state system, not a medical system. Therefore it could be easily discovered. If you have a medical marijuana card, I seriously doubt anyone in California will give you a CCW.

For people still looking for examples of good cause, I would highly recommend and appreciate the efforts done by San Diego County Gun Owners to compile a handful of relevant good cause statements. I would encourage everyone to review them and notice the patterns, what is and isn't said, and the main themes that people are using. Then apply those themes and trends to your own life and experiences. Don't just copy/paste, put some effort into it.

San Diego County Gun Owners gives a step by step process for how to correctly apply for a CCW permit in San Diego.

Not only does a medical MMJ card disqualify you from CCW but also from gun ownership. That was upheld in 2016 and I'm not aware of any decisions after that to overturn it.

I have no idea how the system works for those cards. I was just venturing a guess.

Curious as to whether they are checking during the CCW process. Personally I think they should have never been legalized and have no problems with gun ban if you have one.

Nope nope and nope. The extra cost is for one reason: people will pay it. The psych eval is way too intrusive for a CCW. All it takes is a psychologist to say that you are a danger and then you are ****ed in so many ways. Then they want to talk to your neighbors. Why don't you just make me get a tattoo on my forehead that says "Danger, CCW holder."

As far as taking the load off the Sheriff, Sniff himself said that permits for people from Murrieta that still want to go through the Sheriff have INCREASED since Murrieta started offering CCW's.

HIPAA covers health providers, not police.

And since marijuana is illegal under federal law, and HIPAA is a federal statute, I doubt it applies to weed. The Department of Public Health, which gives out the cards, is not a provider. Maybe a dispensary is.

And yeah if you have posted on social media about your card or MJ use, you've probably waived any privacy rights to an MMC.

After your appointment your good to go for the live scan?

By saying your pre- approved, Do you mean your live scan came back to the sheriff and you got the go ahead to proceed with training?

sorry for the questions. I'm just wanting a little more information on what to expect. My appointment is mid october. Thanks

Yes, and specifically you need to be within the jurisdiction of Murrieta PD. I understand there are homes with a postal address in Murrieta but outside of the jurisdiction of the PD, they need to go through the county.
