Let me put it this way.

It's pertinent to everyone in every County and if asking in every County forum gets someone to actually get active, contact the Chief LEO and get involved in asking questions and working to change or improve the CCW process it's a win for everybody.

We can kibitz and discuss among ourselves but if we're not willing to get out, get involved and do the work to make those changes and improvements they'll never happen.

I doubt any of that is true. Probably told you he got one, but never had one.

A recent interview with Sgt. Adams of the RCSD CCW Unit.

          Then said He unto them...
"and he that hath no 1911 designed by my servant John Moses Browning,
let him sell his garment and buy one."
And they said, "Lord, behold, here are two Glocks."
And He said unto them, "Meh, it's a good start."

          Luke 22:36-38 (somewhat paraphrased)

Curious if anyone that took the class/qual in August has received their permit yet.

True. They are too busy with initial and renewal permits for adds. I asked them in person and they said no adds until renewal, and I know them pretty well. I have a Glock just sitting in my safe waiting for renewal time.

Forgive me if this is posted already, but can someone confirm the time required to do the Ben Clark Safety and Qualification course for a new CCW license? I know to be there by 7:30 for an 8:00 start, but what time does it typically end?

                      thanks in advance.

Here is the link that may help you a lot.

If you have one gun, you might be out of there by 2pm. If you have six guns, you might be there until 4:30pm. Most important: NO SHORTS ON THE RANGE! You must wear pants. A belt would help a lot.

Good catch there, sir. I'll repost my comment that I posted on the video here:
This was a good, informative video that gives the CCW applicants an inside look at the CCW process. It puts a face to the names on the website and gives us a personal look into the process. There are a lot of naysayers and negatives being bandied about here in the comments. Comparing the RCSD process to Arizona's process or that of any other state is a red herring. Their process is nothing like the process in California and the RCSD is only complying with the laws of THIS state. Please do not make the mistake of thinking that the CCW unit is directly responsible for the delays and hoops that you must jump through to get your CCW. In my experience, the CCW unit will do everything possible to assist you to get your CCW. In my conversations with them they WANT qualified, experience, good people to have their CCWs. California's draconian firearms laws and the RCSD budget constraints are the main culprit in the long wait times and arduous process to get a CCW. This can be overcome if you are diligent in the process and prepared. It can also go a bit smoother/faster if you get the class and qualification done prior to the approval process. However, most people don't have the money to pay for these items in advance without being firm in the knowledge that you have been approved. The process is the process. Either get some skin in the game or hold your tongue. If you think the wait is too long or the costs too high then you need to take a step back and reflect. How much time and money is it worth to YOU to be secure in the knowledge that you can defend yourself or your loved ones in a very dire situation?

I got off my behind and finally applied in Murrieta. It will be about $700 all in minus the two yr wait. Anyone in the pipeline or got a CCW from there?

The wait is no longer 2 years. I'd suggest you call rivco sheriffs and make your appointment now. Saves you money and a trip to the psych dude.
