I too had the same problem. One of my guns that I SSE was dros in a different caliber. I just transferred the gun to my wife. It didn't take very long at all. I got a letter from the DOJ a couple of weeks later saying it was transferred. I was pretty shocked on the timing. The best part is that my gun stayed out of jail. After I transferred it the ccw unit told me it would be highly unlikely that my updated permit would be in the mail anytime soon. So now I get to wait almost a year to add it.

There is no DOUBLE 10 day wait. You can PPT two handguns at once. There is no 1 in 30 on a PPT.

OPLAW is slow as hell, sometimes as long as six months to get updated in the computer. Will Riverside take just a copy of the OPLAW form? That would be a good question to ask, but I would bet not. Just guessing, but I would think they send a printout of what's in the computer with your file.

There are 2-10 day waits if the pistol is PPT'd to wife. Then from her back to self.

You can PPT two handguns on same form. But not one handgun twice on same form.

1 in 30 never was an issue in a familial transfer.

OPLAW time frame varies. Sometimes 2 wks, sometimes 2 mo. only DOJ controls that.

Simply mentioning another option. Not pimping for any of the above.

Why would you need to transfer it back since Riverside allows you to carry a spouses firearm? Just transfer it from whoever the owner is to the other spouse and call it done.

Exactly. The OP already stated they were sharing the same three guns. Why would they PPT it twice? Just PPT them to the other spouse (whoever that may be) and be done with it.

The OP gets the one gun his permit was sent up with and his wife can use any of the three.

My last OPLAW in January took so long that I completely forgot about it. Personally, if I was in a hurry and had an extra 16 bucks I would just PPT to the spouse.

The only downside to the PPT is locking the guns up for ten days but it only really needs to be done once since Riverside allows one to put a spouse's gun on their permit.

peoples marriages are not as secure as others, would be my guess. I have no issue with one of my favorite guns being under my wifes name.

My wife and I are 45 yrs in and no end in sight. I have at least a dozen guns that she bought me as gifts over the years. And she has several that I bought her. My registered guns are in MY NAME, hers are in HER NAME.

We trust each other above all others. Sadly not everybody is so blessed.

When my own parents split up in 1980 after 40 yrs of marriage, it got ugly. With that in mind.

                  I'll leave this right here.

                    Riverside

Hi all, pardon me for being new and asking this question but who would be a good resource to help navigate the GC process in Riverside?

Little about me - moved to Cali last year, former Infantry Officer in US Army. Had (some still valid) Resident CCW permits in PA, VA, NC, GA, AL. Looking into the possibility of applying in Riverside but want to have all my ducks in a row.

Thanks for reading and PM if you can lend some insight.

Oh and 0 criminal record and no arrest history here.

Call and get your interview appointment first thing. You will have time after that to do all your paperwork while you wait for that.

For the calgunners that have successfully obtained their ccw...for the reference letters do they need to be signed with a "wet" signature? Reason why I ask is 1 of my references is about 200 miles away.

I don't believe so. You can always call the CCW department or email them and they'll tell you. Also, couldn't they just mail it to you with their signature?

On their website, they do list "original" for the character letter. I am not sure about their enforcement of that but if you haven't applied yet, you still have lots of time to have your friend mail you a signed copy. The wait from the time you call to set up an interview to the interview date is at least 6 months right now.

Mine has not been approved yet but I did submit emailed copies of my letters and Deputy Aguirre accepted them.
