We are at the halfway point of the week. Anybody get a call or any other info?"Fight like you're the third monkey trying to get on Noah's Ark...".

No call yet. I'm wallowing at home with a cold, and haven't checked my PO box yet this week.Comment

Nada!
E.T.A. From what I recall, it seems that most of the "I got the call" posts are on Thursdays.....

Ok, folks, I got a letter today. It's neither an approval nor a denial; it states that they will not continue processing my application without submission of letters of reference. For more details, please see my post over in the Gun Groups to Riverside Sheriff: Start Granting Carry Permits, Or Else thread.Comment

Dude....that sucks. However you choose to go, I hope it works out for you.
ETA...At least it wasn't a denial.

Thanks! I'm still really eager to hear results from folks who used "Self Defense" as their good cause, but submitted all of the departments extra required paperwork. I think some of y'all should be really close to hearing something, based on the timing of my letter.Comment

383 I'll write a letter for you. It's the least I could do for your efforts in helping us determine what the counties actual policies are.If you are wondering if you can get a LTC in Riverside County: THE ANSWER IS YES!

Thanks! I'll let you know if I decide to submit letters. I really appreciate your offer. Boy, it sure is frustrating that it takes so long to run some applications through the system to see what comes out. But, we gotta do it.Comment

I personally think you should submit the letters at this point unless CGF has agreed to represent you if you are denied. Riverside has shown that they will not process applications without the letters, so I think the fact-finding on that issue is a moot point going forward.
After all of this effort I would hate for you not to get your license due to 3 letters. If you are wondering if you can get a LTC in Riverside County: THE ANSWER IS YES!

That's pretty much what I'm thinking, too. But I'll wait until I hear from CGF before I decide anything. I just picked up the letter late today. I've been home with a cold the last couple days, and I just left home this evening to pick up some medicine, and checked my postal mailing box while I was out.
Sadly, the meds did nothing for my sinuses. Waaah!

I am thinking the same thing. If you are really wanting your permit, then do the letters thing. If and when you do get a permit, keep up the fight to change the process. But, if you are willing to keep fighting, hopefully with the help of CGF/others, it could go a long way in bringing about change. If nobody really challenges the status quo, and everybody complies with these policies, then there will be no reason for RSO to change them.I personally think you should submit the letters at this point unless CGF has agreed to represent you if you are denied. I agree, but respect your decision either way. I was honestly expecting a straight out denial for you based on the recent movement in the Peruta case. I'm really glad it didn't happen and see this as sort of good news. I guess we will know more once those who used self defense as GC and submitted the letters get a response.I personally think you should submit the letters at this point unless CGF has agreed to represent you if you are denied. This is another one where timing could have played a part, like the person who was approved on SD alone in the time period that Peruta was not up for en banc (or whatever the status was for that short window). The letter to 383Green was dated March 24, and Peruta went en banc on the 26th. The en banc thing can change how they had been/planned on treating those who applied with just SD.I agree, but respect your decision either way.
