Sheriff Sniff is coming to the NRA Members' Council of the Inland Empire meeting on Feb. 2 to speak specifically about CCWs. That is the reason it is listed in this thread.
The other events mentioned are Friends of the NRA events/dinners. I am not sure if Sheriff Sniff is attending any of these, or plans to speak about CCWs if he does attend."Fight like you're the third monkey trying to get on Noah's Ark...".
The only thing that matters is rallying our cause to fight the enemy relentlessly, indifferent to the outcome of any particular battleComment

Things are getting really mixed up.
This thread is pertaining to CCWs in Riverside County.

While these events are no doubt worthwhile, they are clearly off topic and warrant an new thread...Real Californian...Comment

Are you saying that Sheriff Sniff coming to speak specifically about CCWs is off topic to this thread? If so, then I would beg to differ. Or are you referring to the Friends of the NRA events? If so, then I agree."Fight like you're the third monkey trying to get on Noah's Ark...".

Got my interview date. 23 October 2017. I only have 20 months to prepare.Comment

I have my appointment coming up pretty soon. Hopefully I have everything done. I swear I have read the checklist at least a couple dozen times now.Comment

I picked up my permit today!
Timeline:
3/10/15 - Called for interview
7/9/15 - Interviewed
7/15/15 - Livescan
10/7/15 - File went upstairs for review
11/1/15 - Received preliminary approval
11/7/15 - CCW Classroom at Ben Clark
12/9/15 - CCW Range Qual at Ben Clark
1/29/16 - Called to pick up permit
Some comments: I went the preliminary approval route because I wasn't sure about my Good Cause, and didn't want to buy a compact gun and pay for training before I was sure. So that added three months to my wait, partly because for whatever reason Clark didn't do a range Qual in November.
It turns out they are more generous in approval of GCs than I thought. I had sent my GC to the guy in Orange County that CalGuns says is THE guy to review GC statements, and he said mine wouldn't fly in Riverside. So I tweaked it a bit (not much at all) and it worked. All of that to say that I think Riverside is more permissive than in the past.
Note that Cal DOJ Livescan took just short of 3 months, and Riverside admin review only 3 weeks.Comment

Second, I think all of the issuing jurisdictions are being a little more lenient given recent events.
I believe that, as long as you are not an obvious loser without the ability to generate a cogent GC statement, you have very good chance of being approved.
Clearly you passed that tested.
Again, Congrats!

Just a note for others: calguns doesn't recommend sending your GC to the guy in OC that is recommended on that other forum, because his information is unreliable regarding Riverside county. Put plainly, he has told a whole bunch of people that they won't qualify and then they received their permits. So don't ask him, he doesn't know.If you are wondering if you can get a LTC in Riverside County: THE ANSWER IS YES!

Approval
Congrats. If you don't mind, will you PM me with info about your good cause and what you heard from the OC guy? I'm up to speed on all of the Riverside good causes and help others get their GC approved. Knowing what others are using will help more people in the future get their permits.

GC PMd.
Thanks for the correction, Sleighter. I guess I forgot where I saw the reference to the OC guy. I wish I had sent you my GC before I went the prelim route.
I also want to echo again what others have said about the deputies in the CCW unit. They are professional, dedicated, and have amazingly great attitudes. We're fortunate to have them. They just need more help!Comment

Several others who I was helping or trying to encourage to get their permits in RivCo also consulted with him and were told their GC wouldn't fly. It took me almost a YEAR to convince one of them that their GC was sound after he had panned it. He decided to put it all on the line and take my advice and apply and is walking around with a permit today.
But I digress...let's keep this on topic. You would have been better served to send it to Sleighter for review than to send it to GB. However, NOBODY can give you a better review of your GC before you apply than Aguirre and Yezzo. They are willing and able to listen to it and opine if they think it is sound. Yes, it is advisable to get some advance assistance with the GC so that you don't have to go the preapproval route. The wait times are heinous right now and that just adds weeks or months to the application and approval process.
Congrats on getting the permit. Carry every day. Carry everywhere.
CARRY ON!!sigpic
