Whatever was on your old history that UT and AZ needed clarification about, did you disclose this information on your application or during the interview for Riverside? I would assume that Riverside would definitely want clarification on this as well simply because it appears that Riverside is more strict than AZ and UT. I only ask simply because I would be curious if this might question your Good Moral Character if it was not disclosed during the application or interview.
AZ just needed court docs stating my disposition of a Felony that was reduced to misdemeanor and expunged. I guess its hard for some states to get a hold of CA court docs. As for UT, I think there policy is a no go for any convicted felons wither it had been reduced or expunged. Everything has been disclosed on all my CCW apps. Nothing to hide.

        Thank you for clarifying this.

Yeah. This is the part I hate the most. If you read the paperwork you sign, you give them permission to look at and access any information about you. You also wave the right to know anything they find. It's a ****** system.

Well it's been a week since my denial. I've emailed Deputy Yezzo requesting how I go about "filing" an appeal. As of today, I have not received a reply. (Note that when I did inform him of my denial, he said to contact him if he could be of any assistance).

The denial letter doesn't give me an option to appeal, it just says if I have further documentation, I can resubmit my application, which sounds to me like I'm starting the process from the beginning.

Has anyone filed an actual appeal? If so, how do I go about doing so.

I know my wife emailed him as well about a week ago to get the qualification schedule and he has yet to respond to her as well.

I have a question on the moral character aspects. My good cause is ok, a friend in the exact same line of business as mine was approved last year with our occupation as his cause.

My character issue has been making me pause. I'm 41. When I was 19 I got a DUI, at 27 or so a possession of pot under an ounce (misdemeanor) and another under an ounce when I was 30. Since then I've only had a speeding ticket.

Does anyone have experience with those types of past histories being deal killers?

                  Thank you.

Boudroux, each case is handled individually. The only way to know is to apply. If you want to carry, then you owe it to yourself to apply and get a straight answer.

Boudroux...let me tell you this...My opinion is that, like Sleighter is alluding to, I think, it's possible that two different people could have the same criminal record history, one could get CCW, the other not, based upon the interview, and maybe other factors. First thing that needs to happen is this: Do YOU think you're a good candidate? If so, apply..... MHO.

Thank you! Per Deputy Yezzo's suggestion, I will be calling the Lt. in admin. to discuss an appeal.

Well Deputy Aguirre called me today to tell me 2 of my 3 have SSE issues and I will only be able to proceed with the one. He said he had so many files with issues on his desk that he did not have the time to try to get it resolved and would continue with just the one gun. The crappy thing is my wife also listed those guns on her application and will have the same issue and we will only have the one gun between to the two of us. I am hoping that since she has not qualified yet we could buy another gun and get hers amended.

What was the issue? Were you aware there would be any issue(s)?

If you end up applying post back with how the interview went. I have a past arrest and am curious how they'll react.
