Chad Bianco, candidate for Riverside Co. Sheriff

The function in Palm Springs for Chad Bianco was last night. First, an explanation of why my wife and I went is probably appropriate. We have known the hosts of the event for about 13 years. They are easily some of the best people we have ever known. They are both strong Christians and have a very high more and ethical character.

So, the fact that they would host an event for anyone is a strong endorsement to me up front.

What I did not know was that the wife of the couple was first married to Chad. They were married for some time and had several children together. He has since remarried, as has she. They have all remained friends.

So, she is someone whom I really trust and I would think that being married to him and having kids with him would give her some insight into his character and motivations. She is not a person who would endorse ANYONE if they were not up to her high standards of conduct.

My personal impression of him was excellent. He spoke for some time with specifics on Sniff's history on CCW, including earlier years when he was against civilians carrying. His feeling is that now Sniff is using the two year period as a means to act like he is pro CCW, but keeping actual permits to a minimum.

Chad said that he is very pro CCW with reasonable time periods to issue. He said he grew up in a gun culture outside California and "is not afraid of guns".

I found him to be sincere, motivated, with a good plan on how to improve the way the Sheriff's departement functions in Riverside County. He is picking up lots of important endorsements and I am sure will get more. A representative of the union for the department employees was there and said that they had totally lost faith in Sniff and strongly felt that Chad was the man for the job.

For those of you in Riverside County, I would encourage you to check his web site or go somewhere where he is appearing, then make your own decision. I know I am going to vote for him.

By the way, my voting for him is also because I am a 48 year resident of Riverside County and feel that someone like him will be great for the county. It is not just a CCW issue for me.

    Just my two cents,

The 2 year period is State law, not Sheriff discretion.
Is Bianco going to change State law??

He is talking about the two year wait to get a CCW not the renewal time of every two years.

Just a note for those getting their 3 Reference Letters together, MAKE SURE the letters say the phrase "license to carry a CONCEALED firearm". One letter of mine didn't say it until the very last sentence, but the verbage needs to be there.

                  Thanks for the tip.

What ifs do not work well without some info about a person, since knowing something about you might suggest what you could use to prove residency. For instance, you don't even hint at why your rental agreement is not in your name. Same with utilities. Why not get them in your name? Did you work and, if so, what is the address on your W2 or tax return? If you are a student, what is the address under which you registered?

                      Same problem SOLVED
My new wife has lived in this house for 17yrs everything is in her name, title bills and so on.

I brought registration for both my trucks, W2's, other tax letters, insurance papers and my pay stubs. ALL of which were accepted. He really liked the tax and payroll the best though.
When he asked for proof or residency I said "That may be problem for me (explained above)"
he Replied "its a common problem, we'll work with you... what did you bring?"

And make sure they are all signed! Didn’t notice one of mine was not signed. They were super cool about it and just asked that I email a PDF with the letter signed. Overall great first interview for me. Nothing like other background interviews I’ve been through...

Anyone know if we HAVE to take the CCW training course before some type of approval? I can’t make the date on the next course, and hate for that to be what’s holding me back. They give a list of other acceptable courses, but they’re almost double the money. If it’s absolutely necessary for any word, I’ll just bite the bullet and spend the extra to fit my schedule

One of my listed pistols for my permit has a reflex sight on it.
When I turned my paperwork I asked Deputy Searles about qualifying with it and weather or not I should put the irons back on, he said its fine just no trigger work. Nothing in writing from him (yet) just our conversation.
I am curious if anyone has qualed with one or seen someone with one at their qual. I have mine at SSD on the 24th, just trying to avoid issues or delays.

It took me ~20 months for my interview appointment. I qualified last month...

Any idea how long for the permit to be issued?

                            Getting antsy ;(

3-4 months seems to be average

I'm in the same boat, can't make the April 7th course at Ben Clark so I have to reschedule for May. Even with that, Im confident I'll qualify before LiveScan gets back to RSO because of the LiveScan backlog. Basically, they aren't going to call you to pick up your permit unless you have that qual signed off. Deputy Searles didn't bat an eye when I said I had to sign up for May at Ben Clark.
