Did anyone read the article? Let me summarize:I just read that Murrieta is going to start to process CCW soon.
http://myvalleynews.com/local/murrie...it-processing/- Chief is "looking into it"
- It would require hiring more officers (so is this a way for the Chief to hire more officers, and he is really going to ask the taxpayers to hire more officers to approve CCW's. Good luck with that)
- OR they use outside investigators, which will cost $761 a person (sounds like the 91 FastTrack. If you are willing to pay more, you can get it quicker from MPD).
- And there will be a psych eval (Riverside Sheriff does not do psych evals for ccw's)
- And NO WHERE does it say what good cause will be required for a CCW in Murrieta.
I have a friend that knows people in power down in Murrieta. They do not see this going through anytime soon. Too much opposition from the powers that be down there.
For those of you who live in Murrieta, I suggest just going with Riverside Sheriff. Even though the wait is long, by the time Murrieta gets this up and running, you may already have your CCW from Riverside Sheriff.Comment

Watch the video linked on post 2634. Forward to 1:30. Chief Haddon discusses the CCW issue. Looks like they will be hiring an outside company to do backgrounds. He is also going to require a psych test done.

Yes, I watched the video. And after watching that, it seems this is even less of a sincere effort to start issuing CCW's. I would guess some "force" (quite possibly Riverside Sheriff*, or maybe a lawsuit from a Murrieta citizen) has pressured MPD to explain why they are not issuing CCWs. So MPD does some "research" and shows it is too difficult/expensive, etc. In the end, MPD will probably say "well, we looked into it, it is too difficult/expensive, so we decided not to do it."
* I know Riverside Sheriff is not happy about having to issue CCW's for residents of cities that have their own PD (Hemet, Murrieta, etc) since CCW's is a money LOSER for the department (even the $200ish dollars we pay doesn't cover Riverside Sheriff's cost). So I wouldn't be surprised it Riverside is pressuring the local PDs like Murrieta to step up and issue CCW's.Comment

Kudos to Yezzo and the support staff, they made it fun and easy to obtain. Good luck to those waiting and if your considering getting one. Just do it!!
P.S. I just called the Livescan number and both agencies are reporting still in process. Save yourself the headache and hassle. Don't bother checking this.Last edited by indobos72; 04-17-2017, 6:15 PM.Comment

I have met two people in the past week who have upcoming interviews for their CCW with the city of Murrieta to occur within the next two weeks. Looks like it is going to happen unless these two individuals are BS'ing me. Do not know how credible they are.I just read that Murrieta is going to start to process CCW soon.

The highlighted is what concerns me. They are using their individual for Psych Eval. If you don't pass, this carries with you and you can't go anywhere else to obtain. Also, how long does a negative eval stay with you. Surely much longer than the Riverside process is. That coupled with the higher cost. I'd be patient and go with the sure bet Riverside IMHO.Did anyone read the article? Let me summarize:- Chief is "looking into it"

In a panic here. Can't find my birth certificate. I have my passport but the application doesn't mention passport. I have my interview Thursday so tomorrow I will have to take a day off work to hit LA County and get a copy of the damn birth certificate.
Is that a must have item?sigpicComment
