I did the range qualification today, classroom is on saturday. Is there a written test then? How long after that should I expect the call to pick up my permit?

No written test. Not sure on how long it'll take before you find out. Check some of the prior pages in this thread as others have posted timelines.

Well after 5 months I've decided to appeal my denial. I've taken Deputy Yezzo's suggestion and contacted the Lieutenant in charge of the CCW unit. Now waiting on a call back after leaving a message earlier this morning. Let's see how this goes.

Glad to hear you're going to appeal. The process is too complex and takes too much effort(read: Money) to just give up. The appeals process exists for a reason.

Just wanted to say thanks to sleighter for reviewing the wife's and mine GC rough statement. He pushed me over the edge to schedule an interview. Currently scheduled for August 2nd 2016. Quite a while but I'm in line now

In the last month the CCW unit has filled up appointments from May - August of next year. That should say something about the interest in Riverside growing and how many people are applying for permits now.

Thank you to everyone who originally agreed to help over a year ago and were willing to go through the process and share their experience. Because of you more people are carrying in Riverside than ever before.

That was my feeling as well haha. Basically if I'm lucky a year from now it will be complete. Incredibly long wait for someone that is used to "extreme change in strategic direction" within weeks at work but I'll manage the excitement with more training in the mean time

I have a compact 1911 on mine. I didn't have to show them anything as far as safe handling. The R.O. will watch to see if you put the safety on after each firing station when you go to qualify however.
