Part of my denial was that I lacked "good cause" (I didn't have police reports on the two threats) although I had explained why reports were not made. My reviewing Deputy said he understood the reasons and didn't see why I would be denied. So yeah, seems like no police report = denied for lack of GC.

    Just based on my experience.

Can someone advise, I am a bit confused. Do I nake an appointment first and then fill out the application? Will I be bringing in the application once I come in for my interview? What courses are required to meet the requirements. Sorry noob questions, but want to make sure I get it done right the first time.

      Any help appreciated.

Call and make your appointment asap. You'll have plenty of time to fill out the app and gather the required documentation. Once you go in for your interview, the ccw unit will schedule you for the class and range qual.

Thank you. I should have clarified that my desire to speed up the process has nothing to do with the recent incident in SB. I have no stalker or anything like this. Just some scary situations due to my line of work. And I don't want to "cut in line" in front of anyone. I was just wondering if they ever get ahead in their processing and the line moves faster than expected. But I guess that's not going to happen after the SB incident.

Sorry if I'm a noob. I live in the city of Riverside, does that mean I need to apply for a CCW at the City of Riverside Police Department? or can I go through Riverside County Sheriff Department?

(From PE article):Residents in the county's unincorporated areas, and in cities where the Sheriff's Department is the contracted law enforcement agency, have to apply for a permit from the department.
This article suggests that if you live in a city in Riverside county that has its own police (Hemet, Murrieta, etc.) that you cannot get a LTC through the Sheriff's Department. I am 99.99% sure this article is not correct.

EDIT: I knew I read this somewhere...
(From the Riverside Sheriff CCW site):If you live in a city within the county of Riverside where another agency is your police department, you may apply directly with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for an application.

Oh well almost a year away. I am just glad I finally got a call back. Gives me time to make sure my paper work is GTG!!!!!! and by good cause statement is also polished up.

My renewal is coming up, The soonest I could get in was Mid Jan. I expire a few months later. I have a feeling I'll have a lapse... Any word if they're expanding the unit?

We'll find out more during the Feb NRA meeting with the Sheriff.
