When I was there picking up my initial CCW this afternoon , I overhead the two deputies talking how they blacked this whole next month of November out for renewals ONLY. No new CCW appointments will be made.
It sounded like it was full of new staff and they were far behind.
I found that odd that I received my ccw so quickly after hearing thatComment

The deputy that gave me my permit also said they opened up the website to 120 days for renewals, as it currently is taking approximately 110 to 115 days to processComment

I think the agent I interviewed with dropped the ball. When I reached out to him in September (trying to see wtf was going on with my application), I received a standard form letter saying:
“Your CCW application has been received and is in process.”[...]
...which contradicted the Permitium website which said that my application had already been processed and was under review. This was back in July.
It’s a big cluster****.
That would seem to un-cluster the issue somewhat.Comment

If the applicant is RENEWING a Carry Concealed Weapon license in Orange County, they may not apply until 90 days before the expiration date listed on their current Carry Concealed Weapon license.ATF Form 4473: If a frame or receiver can only be made into a long gun (rifle or shotgun), it is still a frame or receiver, not a handgun or long gun.Comment

OCSD CCW Renewal Timeline
Below is my renewal timeline for those that are interested:
07/18/19 Submitted renewal application and supporting documents
08/04/19 Completed & submitted Certificate of Training
09/30/19 Received email confirming Investigative Review was in process
10/17/19 Received email confirmation of approval and instructions for pick up
10/31/19 Picked up CCW at OCSD; no appointment; quick and friendly
Overall a good experience from my standpoint, and I thank the OCSD CCW Unit for their professionalism.
Note from my approval email: As of November 1, 2019, the CCW Licensing Unit will be implementing an appointment system for license pick-ups and will no longer allow Licensees to show up without an appointment.Last edited by topper949; 10-31-2019, 12:32 PM.Comment

That will change in the next day or two. I can not believe the deputy that just handed me my initial ccw would tell me incorrect informationComment

Artemis is now confirming 120 days. This morning they emailed:
Originally posted by Artemis DefenseStraight from OCSD....Update as of 10/30/19
BACK LOGGED!!!
CCW Permit holders, they are now allowing Renewal Submissions 120 days out!!! So look at your expiration date right now and MARK YOUR CALENDARS for 120 Days before that expiration! They are still BACK LOGGED and it is taking them 90-120 days to process applications so START AT 120 DAYS.
They have also changed the expiration window to allow for a 30 day grace period....meaning if you expire, they will allow 30 days from your expiration date to submit your Renewal. It will still take 90-120 to process the application which means in that time you will not be able to carry, but at least you won't have to start the WHOLE INITIAL PROCESS OVER AGAIN.
Make sure you upload ALL YOUR DOCUMENTATION into the online portal at the time of your Renewal Submission.iTrader under old CalGunsComment

Orange Co Gun Owners PAC!
San Diego Co Gun Owners PAC was behind getting Sheriff Gore to liberalize CCW issuance. In 2 years they've increased the number of CCWs by 10x!
Now there's a sister organization for Orange Co. Be sure to share this info with friends, family, shooting buddies, etc. Joining them is an important step to ensuring continued liberal issuance of CCWs and to stop anti 2nd A local ordinances (county or city).

OC Gun Owners? NO THANKS! They spread so much misinformation and pushing anti-gun agenda during freedom week.

Since this is a CCW subforum and SD Co Gun Owners got Gore to liberalize issuance, they seem like a good group to me. It operates politically at the county level, not up in Sacto. My guess is the other anti crap from Sacto will have to be handled judicially in the federal courts. Those are two different battlefields....Comment

My focus is on liberalizing CCWs in CA. I can't keep up with all the other BS Sacto pushes.
