So just picked up my card went as everyone else has described.
4/4 interview and livescan
~5/1 training
~ 7/1 livescan completed and paperwork for final approval
8/8 picked up card
Only 2 people waiting when I was there.
OCSD has been awesome, they have all been relaxed and professional, answered every email (2) promptly.Comment

Thanks for reporting back, so those in the process have a rough timeline estimate...Real Californian...Comment

Was told 4-5 months as well. As long as they have your renewal app in process prior to exp. your good to go. You may have some down time if you happen to expire during your renewal.
Submit a renewal after expiration your going to have to redo the entire initial process over again.Comment

CCW just expired a few days ago and my renewal just got approved.
Please don't throw a shoe at me, but do I have to hand in my old/expired CCW ID asap? Or can I do it next week when I renew?KevinComment

No reason to, it's expired, they won't even ask for it back. It's worthless at this point."I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery."

I am 12 weeks out from my Livescan, so I emailed the CCW unit this week to check on my DOJ Livescan status. This was the email I received back:
"We have not received your livescan results. There has been a delay at the DOJ and they are now taking about 16 weeks for us to receive.

Just a FYI for anyone in the same boat as myself...Comment

Just had my initial CCW interview recently at OCSD. There were 3 other people who had an interview scheduled at the same time. One was an older guy, dress shirt and slacks, looked pretty professional and relaxed, maybe a renewal? Another was an older gentleman as well but he was wearing shorts, slippers and a baseball cap.
The last guy was wearing a t-shirt and shorts that had several holes in it so that you can see his underwear
To top it off, he didn't have his forms filled out completely.
