    OCSD is still issuing permits...

    OCSD is still issuing permits.

That my friends is the bottom line.

May issue is not shall issue, but unlike LA, issuing continues in OC...

    Apply.

      That's the bottom line.

If you can articulate a need, you'll get a permit.

The GC thread is here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1057379

        Lots of examples, links, info...

Pretty much if you can articulate any valid reason to carry and you can legally own a firearm and get training they will issue a permit. We are not hearing of denials unless you can't meet these requirements. Exceptional need, i.e.; verifiable threats, restraining orders, assaults, etc. does not seem to be required under the current policy(s).

All of California is May Issue, regardless of how liberally an IA issues permits.
When I said the Sheriff didn't have to go "shall issue" until the decision of the Peruta panel was final, I didn't mean to suggest that OC was ever shall issue.

On average, what are the processing times for people's LiveScan? And does the CCW unit email you once they've gotten the results?

2-3 months. And yes, that finalizes the app packet/file to submit to LT for approval. They will email you and tell you everything is done.

Evidently the there is a third step in the process that is really slow, IIRC it wasn't the DOJ or FBI check, but some weapons check or something. Perhaps someone can chime in.

Anyway, yeah, takes awhile and once approved they'll request your training certification, then schedule you in to pick up your permit. They verify everything, take your picture, and then print out your carry card - it's kind of like a drivers license and lists your weapons registered/qualified for carry on the back.

This for sure. As long as you have a clean background and you can articulate a reasonable GC you will get the permit!

Once you've been approved and have sent in your school's paperwork how long do they take to issue. I'm in that limbo zone

                    Picked up permit last week

                    My Timeline:

                    12/27/15 applied for interview appointment
                    9/15/15 initial assigned interview date
5/12/15 reassigned interview date of 7/30/15
                    7/30/15 Initial interview
                    7/30/15 LiveScan completed
10/17/15 Training completed with Hansen Firearms Training
11/24/15 Final appointment and Permit pick-up

All in all about 11 months, seems about average for current conditions. Keep the faith and be patient.

After you send in your certs, they'll contact you in 1-2 weeks for a pick up date.

When does OCSD tell you to get your training? After the initial interview, live scan results are received, when?

They send you a conditional approval letter most likely via email after they receive your livescan results.

So I finally took the plunge to get a CCW. I believe my GC statement is good and am ready to go through this process.

                                11/**/2015 - Applied for Appointment
                                Received response same day
                                2/**/2016 - Interview Date

                                Cant wait!
