There is not minimum time of residency requirement.
    Just residency.
The county is pretty conservative but who knows what will happen in the future.
The board of supervisors seemed to be well behind issuing.
For now they are issuing, that is all I care about right now.

I was going to wait till Peruta was finalized, but finally decided to get in line already. Initial interview is scheduled for 2-Jul-15, which is somewhat farther out than I had expected.

They will most likely call you to move it up.

Another OC license question: do they issue unrestricted licenses? I recall some counties adding obnoxious BS like "not at work" or "range only" to their licenses.

OCSD issues unrestricted licenses. They are good to go all over California.

As said, NO restrictions at all.

Hey fellow OCers. I currently live in Los Angeles county, just got married and my wife lives in OC. I'm moving in a few weeks and want to apply for my CCW.

Currently my credit cards and cars are all registered to my parents place in LA. All the family cars are in my name...and I would prefer to keep the address at my parents if possible.

Can I just change my DMV address and one of my cars to Irvine, or do I need to change everything (credit cards, banks, etc).

                thanks for the advice!

I don't think they rely on those addresses any longer but could be wrong.

                  I think they rely on:

                  1) your sworn statement that you live where you say in your application

                  and

                  2) the residency check

So, assuming you aren't perjuring yourself and assuming they can very your residency with a neighbor/wife/etc to their satisfaction you should be good.

Thanks! What does a residency check entail? The wife and I are at work during the day, but her mom is going to be living with us for the next 3 months while they do construction in her building. Will they just knock on the door and talk to her? (she's old, so I'd like to warn her so a cop at the door doesn't startle her)

Guess I should get chummy with the neighbors that live across the hall too in case they need to verify with them.

Mine consisted of the officer knocking on the door and not getting an answer because I was in the back of the house getting the kids ready for school. He was nice enough to call me and tell me he would be in the area a little longer and to call him if I was home. I called... he came back... walked up and looked at what I presume was my picture on his clipboard... looked at me... then said "Yep, that's you. That's all I need." I thanked him and he walked away.

Sometimes, I have heard and read on here, they will catch a neighbor outside and just show them your picture and ask if you live there. Or they will ask your Mother in Law if she is home. Or they could knock on a neighbor's door and ask.

They don't say much or why they are asking which is good or bad depending on what the person they're asking thinks.

As long as they don't ask the complex landlord/manager...Technically the lease doesn't allow other residents. We'll only be here a few weeks till we can find our own place in OC, and I'd like to keep my address the same through the app process. I guess which address I use will be determined by what my appointment date is...

Maybe I'll just work from home the 7-8 days after the interview to try and be home when they come by for the check.

Question: Will OC allow a Glock 21/30SF if we carry it with pre-ban 13rd mags?

Or is it not worth mentioning the legal mags over ten rounds?

I don't see anything in the CCW guidelines which dictates a magazine round limit.....

If you legal possess them, go ahead and use them. Many folks carry with their preban mags, such as a 15 round Glock magazine for a Glock 19.

How's this for a positive story?

The detective in charge of my application just called -

And they said they wanted to set my final appt but I didnt turn in my training yet.

My weekends are jammed for the next month -

Anyone get their training done during the week?

So far the first 11 I called off the list do not offer weekday training....
