7/22 for interview, 8/2 for receipt of license...that is a quantum leap faster than what it took for my initial license. Heck, it was almost a year from when I applied to when I got my license, so his 6 months for the whole process is also really quick (relatively).

So I submitted my Initial OC CCW Application on 7/22/21. My interview date is 12/8/21. Haven't done training and live scan yet. However, today on 8/2/21, I had my payment refunded and interview rescheduled to 9/22/21. So do you recommend not to do the training and live scan until after my interview on 9/22/21?

It takes several weeks for the firearms portion to clear.

So like 9Cal_OC said, OCSD told me that the Livescan takes about 1 month to complete because it gets stuck on the Firearms portion of the background check. I was kind of kicking myself in the butt because they told me this 1 week before my interview, so in my head I was thinking I should have done it sooner. Anyways, my Livescan results came back within 2 weeks.

Livescan is about $100, so if that amount is important to you I would wait until after your interview. If it's not and/or you are confident you will have no issues with the interview, it does not hurt to do it now.

Received my license in the mail today. Here is the breakdown of my application for initial license.

3/4/21 Application submitted. Set an 8/26 interview
3/18/21 Moved appointment to 8/3/21
4/1/21 Moved appointment to 7/29/21

7/11/21 8 hour training course completed
7/22/21 Received text from OCSD. Uploaded requested info.

Livescan & BOF 4010A

Hello, I'm active duty, and just moved to the OC area at the beginning of July. I mailed off a (BOF 4010A- new resident report of firearms ownership) along with a check for the required amount on 05 July(check still hasn't been cashed by the Cali DOJ). I submitted my initial CCW application on 22 July, and performed my Livescan on 23 July. My interview is on 22 Sept, and I'm curious about two things.

1. How long does it take for California to process form BOF 4010A, and do they let you know once they've done so?

2. What does the firearms portion of the livescan check for? Does it have anything to do with the processing of the BOF 4010A, or is it just a check to see if you are eligible to own firearms? I only ask because the other two portions of the livescan were finished the same day.

Since you sent it by mail, from what I’ve read here, 4-10 months. I may be wrong but you can expect it to take a while.

This is commonly discussed but it seems like an eligibility check and checking different databases.

Looks like they now have the option to mail you your card. Waiting for a phone call so that I can pay over the phone.
