For my second renewal since its being done online. Do I wait for some kind of prelim approval before getting the training out of the way? Or just do it? I know it needs to get done anyways but I'm just curious about the online process.

Online renewal submitted and payed for on Feb 24 all docs uploaded no news since.

    Thanks.

Your renewal is not considered complete until the training cert is sent to the ocsd

You will get a refund of the payment, they dont take payments online. Bring a paper check when you pick up your license.

My CCW expires on 6/2/19. I tried to submit my renewal application on 3/8/19 and a message popped up on OCSD renewal site saying I must apply within 90 days for renewals and then forwarded me to the new license application site. I didn't count the exact number of days but isn't this within 90 days?

I would call them or drop an email to them and ask. I may well be a counter of sorts haywire, or they changed it, or ??
Or just try it again in a couple of weeks. They're doing them in just a few weeks now, and appointments aren't even needed, you just walk in to pickup. The whole process has been streamlined.
Mine comes up this year too, but not 'till August.

Thanks. I kinda figure it might've been a glitch. I'll try again later and if it happens again I'll call them.

Update: Just tried it again and it went through this time without incident. Received email. Already submitted my training cert. so will see if anything else is needed. The new renewal process is definitely an improvement from even just two years ago.

                      Generally it goes like this:

Apply online (include good cause as an attachment as well as proof of residency)
                      Go in for an interview
Afterward you will get an "OK to proceed with your livescan and training
Get your livescan and training done
Submit your training certificate through the online portal
Provide any add'l info. they may request of you
Get notified as to when you can pick up your permit

What kind of supporting document would I need to upload to support this good cause statement? Or is this not good enough of a statement? Any help is appreciated.

It's not so much about your equipment as it is about you.

                        Any sketchy neighborhoods?
Poorly lit parking lots where having your hands full makes you appear to be a target?
                        Places without security patrolling?

Take some time to flesh this risk out and be prepared to provide pictures.

Just submitted my renewal for the first time. What are the time frames I’m looking at? I’m taking the ccw renewal class on April 7th and my ccw expires May 17th. Sent everything I could. ID, passport, proof of residency, crime stats, photos. Hope they don’t request more info.

Has anyone had any trouble doing a lot of amendments in a short period of time? Between moving house and adding/removing guns, I'm about to hit amendment number four in about a six month period... OCSD's always been professional and pleasant to deal with, but I'm just wondering if anyone's had their wrist slapped for doing too much?

Don't worry about it - they want to keep your file current, it's their duty to have current information on their permittees.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but is the thought process for getting a CCW, “if you can buy a firearm, you can get a CCW?”
