I've booked my training (ahead of receiving PTT since it's valid for 1 yr) but i'm worried about SB2 changing the process on us and my $250 going down the drain. Can something like SB2 derail those of us who are well into our application?

CCW TIMELINE

LA County Sheriff Timeline:
- Mailed with tracking number on July 2, 2022
- Mail received July 5, 2022
- Money order cashed September 19, 2022
- Call for interview October 3, 2023 was told I can complete interview now over the phone and send documents via email pickup date would still be another 6 months away as they have over 8000 applications pending

LAPD timeline:
- Emailed application on January 12, 2023
- Email reply from LAPD January 23,2023 stated they had a wait list of 1700 and process was 7-9 months long.
- Received phone call on April 27, 2023
- Interview date on September 19, 2023 Currently pending pick up date was told 60 days since I completed training already.

I believe either is OK. If you are applying now you need to apply through the online process. There is no more mailing applications and sending in check or MO.

You should receive instruction on where to go and how to pay when you get your call to pick up. Hopefully someone who has picked up can provide more detail.

Update. Got called today from a 213 number, ask if I could do a quick phone interview. Went smoothly, told me to go ahead and start my Livescan and submit my documents. Said about 4 months before PTT should come in due to backlog. Finally some movement after over a year of waiting for the interview call. Glad it could be done over the phone since that speeds things up.

Pleasant surprise today. Got my PTT emailed to me. Under 2 months. I was actually planning to do my training this month to be ahead of time since they had told me 4 months. Guess I will schedule ASAP. Added my timeline to my signature.

QUESTION: Those who sent their training docs, did you just reply to the PTT email and change the subject to "Firearms Training" as it says in the body?

Finally! Phone call from unknown number. Picked up and pleasantly surprised that it's my turn to pickup.

Started process by dropping off application 6/27/22. Interviewed April 2023, training done by May 2023 and submitted when PTT e-mail arrived in August 2023. Over 5 months from interview to call for pickup and about 10 weeks from PTT e-mail to actual pickup date.

Hope to never need it but glad to finally be almost done with the process!

Does anyone know how LASD looks into firearms that were bought during the SSE era?

PTT e-mail says "In addition, the caliber of the firearms must all match on all paperwork (AFS, DROS, Shooting Proficiency Standards form and Certificate of Completion and DOJ)."
Right after submitting my training docs, took my SSE to pawn shop to do a pawn return to correct caliber. Was pretty quick process and looks like it didn't impact my permit issuance.

Yes, did just as they requested. They never confirmed receipt so I checked in via the Contact us form last week (after 7 weeks of radio silence) and they confirmed receipt and got pickup call 8 days later.

Deputy on the phone said "LASD" is fine. Found receipt for my original check from 2022 and it said "LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT (LASD)". Any combination of the above should be fine?

Hopefully! As of today I'm 469 days since application and 385 days since check was cashed. Wouldn't be surprised at this point if the entire process takes me almost a full 2 years.

I didn't change the subject title at all. Just replied directly. The fewer things I touch, the lower the chance of things going wrong, haha

Yeah, I replied to the same email but changed the subject per the specific note in their email. I don't think this was necessary but I figured it [hopefully] wouldn't hurt to be PRECISE and follow instructions exactly. I think they don't even realize there's a discrepancy between what they're sending and what they're asking for. But part of me did think it might be some sort of trick question, lol.

Im right there with you. I just checked and Im 463 days since I mailed mine, and 10/03/23 was 1 year since my MO was cashed.
