399 pages, I tried but can't find what I was looking for. Just submitted application online and uploaded the files. Gave me an option to setup appointment.

couple questions.

1. Do I still need to submit a copy to local LASD office like some of the guides says? I live in unincorporated LA county.

2. That appointment, is it for interview? or pickup? I tried looking and didn't say so on the website. Edit: Just received confirmation email. The appointment is for interview.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but am curious how far out your appointment date is set for? I gotta think that's an interview date, and would have a better idea knowing how far out it is.

Mini update: mailed LASD app & it was delivered 6/27/22, called a couple of weeks ago and they mentioned it was entered into the system at the end of September

Submitted LAPD app via email in early March 2023

Got a call yesterday from LAPD to schedule an interview at the end of December. Let the person on phone know I should be hearing from LASD soon. Told her I?d call back in a couple of weeks.

I applied on 06/28/22 and had my interview early July. So it took a little over a year for the interview. Now I wait to see how juvenile stuff affects the process.

July 5th, 2022 - Application and Money Order signed as delivered

Money order has been cashed but USPS no longer has the date in which it was cashed, so I'm assuming it's been cashed a long time ago.

I reached out through email to the LASD CCW Unit today (July 17, 2022) and was informed that my name is "not in our tracking system. When and where did you apply"

I forwarded over the USPS proof of delivery with the Sheriff who signed off on the delivery, along with the USPS Money Order Tracker which shows my money order has been cashed.

I've waited over 13 months and wanted to see if anyone has had a similar experience in terms of their application not being found.

Yikes... sounds like everyones greatest fear came true for you. Hopefully with your proof of delivery and MO they will rectify this and get you put in place where you should be.

Maybe I should call? I handed mine in at a station but it has been more than a year.

Still waiting for my interview call, app was delivered 6/28/22 checked cashed in early Sept 22. I emailed the CCW unit got this response:

Your application has been received. You will be contacted when your file has been assigned to an investigator. We are working diligently to process all applications and they will be assigned in the order received.

Our timeline is similar. I mailed my app certified to the Hall of Admin on 6/23/22 and USPS tracking shows delivered on 6/27 (the mailroom probably before it gets delivered to the CCW unit a day or so later). I also emailed for status since I used a money order so no idea if cashed, my email reply from LASD is the exact same canned response as yours. I completed my live scan a few weeks ago since the sheriff site says to do so if I submitted my app during the time frame I did. No word yet.

Maybe there's a difference in the interview but I don't think there's a difference in the application which relates to this topic - at least not a change that was done by Luna. I submit my application over 6 months prior to Luna being elected and nowhere did it state "adult" record, note any exception for juvenile offenses or anything to that effect. All questions had verbiage like "please list all" and " have you ever".

The application is a statewide form so of course it did not change because LA got a new sheriff. The change I?m referring to is the level of scrutiny applied to each question. With ambiguous qualifications like good moral character the process will change with each and every sheriff. In this case not mentioning everything up front on the application is judged in a harsher light than the previous administration who was fine with it as long as it was mentioned during the interview. So best practice is to include everything. Even something you don?t think would matter.

I sent my renewal out 93 days before it was expired via usps. The received my renewal packet with exactly 90 days before I expire.

I was renewed with license in hand 93 days after that, so I was expired for 3 days.

I believe it wasn?t due to my renewal falling on a weekend holiday, I wouldn?t have expired at all.

I also believe LASD is prioritizing renewals. As long as you have everything together and everything filled out correctly, there will be minimal delays.

I took my training before they told me to proceed to do so, when they noticed for me to proceed with training, I just sent them my training docs.

I received my proceed to training 6/5/2023. I replied with my training docs the same the same day. I haven?t heard from LASD yet.
