11/3/22 - Livescan Completed
1/6/23 - Call for Interview
1/11/23 - Interview
5/16/23 - Proceed to Training

For anyone going through the renewal process, I will put my timeline below.
Also, there is a thread on LASD Renewals...
- 8/4/23 Permit Expires
- 03/17/23 Submit Renewal Application
- 06/11/23 Phone Interview
- 06/12/23 PTT Email Received
- 06/26/23 Training Docs Submitted
- 07/25/23 Picking up renewed license
The renewal process was completely painless and everything was done in a timely manner. Getting my renewal license before my current one expires. Hope everyone renewing experiences the same!Comment

Just a heads up for everyone waiting. I emailed the ccw unit yesterday asking if they received my training docs on 6/26. They responded just now ?Your file is pending final review. The minimum time frame for this is 6 weeks. You will be contacted when your file has been approved and we are ready to issue your license.

CCW Unit ?
For my initial application, they acknowledged/emailed me back stating they received the documents. For my renewal they did not. I just got a call from an unknown number to schedule pick up.Comment

Seems like most timelines show having the in-person interview before doing a Livescan. I turned in my application on 6/29/22. I never was contacted for an interview. Earlier this year when I check the LASD Sheriff CCW page it said for applicants who turned application before the change to local PD's, to complete a Livescan which I did on 4/19/23. A few weeks ago I called the CCW Unit since my email was not responded to. I was told that they thought they would start processing applications from 6/22 this month. I still haven't heard anything and have never been called to an interview? From posts here, it seems that some have finished the process who submitted applications after I did!
Can anyone tell me if they received an email from the CCW Unit or just a call, and if you missed the call, did they leave a message? What did Caller-ID show? ThanksComment

Some people are lucky and get called for the interview <1yr after app submission. More commonly, people are getting their call around 1yr or longer. Mine was a year and a few days.
You should expect a call, not an email (unless they've changed the process). Calls have come from different numbers. Mine was a 213 area code. Some people have had "no caller ID" or other numbers.
Doing your Livescan early won't get you to the interview faster but it could speed up the process AFTER your interview.
They clearly have your application so now you just need to wait. They'll get to it. Don't expect your timeline to be the same as someone else's.Comment

I walked my app into a station on 7/1/22 (last year).
Got a call to schedule an interview on 6/26/23 (a yearish later).
Only received a phone call/ voicemail from an "unknown number", no email.
The deputy left a call back number.

I worked up the courage to call the folks at the LASD CCW unit today.
Timeline / details:
- Submitted my app directly to the Sheriff's station near me, last week of June '22.
- The department received my app in October '22.
- The department is currently processing September '22 applications.
- I performed my Live Scan about three weeks ago.
- The nice person on the phone said I have about a 1+ month wait until I get a call for an interview. She said she would also note down that I've completed by Live Scan as well.
Thanks to everyone on this forum / thread with the updates - hopefully this helps ease your wait. I was merely anxious that my application got lost. I wasn't able to track my money order on the Western Union site for some reason, I had no idea if it had been cashed or not.Comment

He?s not exactly close, he holds his shooting portion at evans gun world in orange. But his fees are reasonable and if you are renewing only he won?t make you stay for the class.
I took my initial class and renewal through him and it was straight to the pointComment
