For those who have renewed, how long is the renewal process taking? LASD's website says "90 days prior to expiration' but I feel like that isn't enough time...Comment

I was hoping some people got a call to schedule pick up. It's looking like they're only doing it on Sundays now. Or atleast that's the only day people have been getting calls on recently.
On another note I heard crpa is about to send LASD a letter to try and speed up the processing before they're forced to hit them with a lawsuit.CCW: app mailed 2/7/22

Man I hope so. Although we are almost at the end of our journey it's absurd that this process takes a year plus... Pre or post Bruen. I do not understand how other states can do this in 4-8 weeks but here it takes 50 MORE weeks minimum than them... I really don't believe at this point they are stalling or trying to deny issuing ccw's I just believe the backlog (their fault for not issuing all these years) the lack of CCW unit members and just a total jumbled process for them is what's doing this... I mean there is no rhyme or reason why a guy sends his app in February doesn't get an interview for a year but if another guy sends his app in April of the same year has his interview 2 months later... Just crazyI was hoping some people got a call to schedule pick up. It's looking like they're only doing it on Sundays now. Or atleast that's the only day people have been getting calls on recently.

It is the old process (from when they issued hundreds a year) they have continued to use. They could have moved online to Permitium over a year ago, as well as only requiring the interview if the application or background check turn up something worth questioning. You could argue that constitutes a purposeful delay, but I would think it's more lazyness, bureaucracy, and the desire to be able to say they seriously vet each applicant. It's BS, but that is my take. Maybe Luna will implement changes. Long Beach, where he used to be chief, is about to launch its CCW program with Permitium.

Wow I hadn't heard of this permitium until you said it and I did the research (https://permitium.com/products.html) that weapons portion is amazing. Basically takes out all the issues we all are having. No more questions asked about updates as you can log in and track your app, no more money order crap as it takes payments, runs your background, etc etc. Amazing and the next question is why hasn't everyone taken advantage of this. According to Kostas on Twitter they sent a letter to lasd yesterday about the extensive delay between application and issuance. Not going to get my hopes up but it's better than nothing and I'm sure we all appreciate the work they're doing!Last edited by aguynamedbryan; 02-22-2023, 4:36 PM.6/28/22 - Mailed

Permitium is cloud based and some Agencies think the data is in a black hole and they don't have 100% control over it. Many will have to build custom interfaces to their internal systems, there is a dollar cost to development. As a supplier of card systems to Government entities, we already have an interface written for Permitium, but the agency has to purchase a license for it, which isn't much, but most Agencies have to budget a year in advance.Wow I hadn't heard of this permitium until you said it and I did the research (https://permitium.com/products.html) that weapons portion is amazing. Government is years behind private industry when it comes to cloud based services. I offer cloud based, have 2 agencies so far, it's easier for us to manage, and easier for the client to use, but they are thinking cloud is still in it's infancy and not as robust or secure, it's a mindset.Comment
