Random question for the group - I didn't have much luck finding anything through search.

Is there anything about sharing CCW firearms between husband and wife? I realize the permit app requires a handgun listed in your name, but I'm wondering if there's a time between interview/training and issuance that a "joint" firearm could be added to both licenses?

After writing that out - another question comes to mind - can anyone tell me how the purchase/sale of a firearm listed on a CCW permit is handled? Not that I'm trying to skirt the system, but what happens if I transfer a firearm to my wife after my CCW permit is issued?

For LA County You can only list firearms on your CCW that are in your name. You cant carry ones listed on your wife's CCW and she cant carry ones listed on your CCW.

If you plan on selling a firearm listed on your CCW it would be smart to remove it from your list prior to the sale. If you buy a new firearm and want to list it on your CCW you must qualify with that firearm and amend your list.

I have the same question. Where is the CCW Portal? They are ignoring my follow up emails.

Thanks for the info - much appreciated.

I have two handguns in my name and none in my wife's.... Both of which I listed on my application. I think I'm going to transfer one to my wife just so we can start the process for her application. Either way I just submitted back in June so I have another year+ to figure out who's carrying what or buy some new stuff, unfortunately.

Thank you. I just used the portal and I actually got a response. They just gave me a canned response that it is pending final review. [emoji23] At least they responded.

I picked up today. The Deputy was nice and quick. I think from the time she called my name until the time I was back at my car was around 7 minutes. As others have said you verify some info, electronic thumb print, sign an electronic signature, take a photo, hand over your check and ID and minutes later she gives back your ID and a printed out CCW Permit.

I was one of the fortunate ones to complete this process in less than 1 year. Best of luck to you all.

                      Photo taken?

Did they take a photo, or is a photo on your permit? Thank you.

Youre correct I left that part out. They did take my photo. The lighting is horrible.

Contracts again! Welcome to the club! It must be just one deputy handling the actual "issue" of the permit. Nice looking female? If so, probably the same one.

I sent my email to LAPD CCW on 10/22/22 and immediately got a reply email stating that I was on the list to be called. Sent a follow-up email a couple days ago, to which they just responded, "You should be contacted for your in-person appointment in the next couple of months." Wow. Way to uphold our rights. I know they're backlogged, but damn...
