Right now they have a pretty solid defense of being buried under the deluge of applications. You could hope that they switch to Permitium system sooner (online system to handle things like CCW applications/etc).

Sucks for people who waited after August that now have to apply to LAPD, if applicable. Word is LAPD are purposely delaying accepting applications until the CA DOJ rewrites the application, but CA DOJ is waiting until after SB 918. A lot of California gun owners mistakenly believed that bill to have been DOA. Classic California normalcy bias. We'll know more this Thursday, I believe. Until then, one simply cannot apply and if you haven't applied yet, you're SOL for a while.

I'm curious to know what will happen to the guys who applied if SB918 passes. I sent my training docs already.

If SB918 passes we have more to worry about than an application change. SB918 Effectively will make carrying most places a no go even with a CA CCW.

Email response I received today from LAPD:

"Once the Department advises that the CCW Unit can begin accepting applications, we will begin to schedule appointments. An officer will email or call you in the order of your message."

Still doesn't explain why they can't at least accept applications and begin the background check just to get the process going until state law changes, and the policies and procedures are ironed out.

- FIREARMS LIVE SCAN CLEARED: 7/22/22


ON 8/10/22, LASD INFORMED VIA EMAIL MY INTERVIEW WILL BE SCHEDULED SIX (6) MONTHS FROM THE DATE THEY RECEIVED MY APPLICATION, WHICH WAS 4/14/22. SO, I SHOULD GET A CALL OCTOBER ‘22.
