Timeline Check: My firearms cleared on Mar. 30. That's almost 8 weeks after submitting the LiveScan. All that to say, if you're waiting for firearms to clear, it looks like DOJ is definitely more backed up than they have been in the past. Hang in there boys!

Yes, pulling out a gun is not the best option but you don't know who your "opponent" is. Might knock you out with one punch, take your gun and shoot you. Ya never know. I've seen way too many fights where 1 vs 1 turns into a 5 vs 1 fight and it doesn't end well for the lone guy. Unknown to you, the "opponent" might have buddies right behind you who will again, hit you in the head and knock you out. Then they'll pat you down and will most likely take your gun and the rest is history. So yeah, I'm not taking any chances regardless of how good of a fighter you are. Not a lawyer but if you 100% believe your life or wellbeing is in danger, then use of force is justified. But if someone is trying to fight me, then i will try to de-escalate the situation and will try to leave the area. If they follow me, run after me or throw things at me, then I will do whatever it takes to defend myself (that's if I wasn't the one who started the confrontation). If you're the one who started the fight, then you better not use that gun.

In LA county you are limited to 3. The form is for the whole state of California and some counties allow more.

I 100% agree. They will charge you and you'll have to prove that you defended yourself unless there's plenty of evidence and witnesses. But then again, the witnesses can be the perps buddies who will testify agains you. Good thing is we have cameras almost everywhere nowadays. Hopefully we will never have to use our guns but if my life is in danger, then I will most definitely use it. If you're carrying/gonna carry in the car, then it might be a good idea to get a dashcam which has a lens facing the inside and outside of the car.

On Amazon they also sell bodycams, similar to the ones that cops wear, and price doesn't seem to be too bad (most under $200). It would provide additional proof if push comes to shove

I've seen those but it's gonna be weird walking around with one of those attached to me lol. Might attract unwanted attention too. If anything if I have enough time I can start recording with my phone and will put the phone in my pocked. Unless i can find something small enough to clip on my pocket or something

So, since it's been so damn long since I started this process, my life circumstances have changed and I'm permanently moving from the residence I applied and interviewed with. Still LA county though. Should I inform the CCW unit before my live scan clears? Or just rock the old address and handle it when it's time for renewal?

Worried I might have to start this whole process over.

True, but some are miniature enough that you could keep it in shirt pocket/fanny pack/etc and if you feel that crap's going down, use it

This is a pretty good small body cam, it has a necklace which it attaches to, also a magnet so you can fix to a shirt, very good quality video and quick to start recording.

Unfortunate, but very true brother, very true. In the heirarrchy of rights, life, liberty and property, what argueably be justified is when life not even limb is threathened or is subject to harm or serious injury. Being a CCW holder is a privilege and not a right for us in this state of ours, the exercise of that privilege entails an abundance of caution. It is not the mantra of great power comes with great responsibility that is at play here, what is a play here is a mere privilege and not a right can be taken away arbitrarily at any time by the grantor of that privilege.

                                This ^^^^, agree completely.

Notify them now, so they can adjust the files. You have not been issued yet, so nothing is set in stone. Folks have changed one or more of their firearms between application and issuance, so why not your address?

Life happens before, during and after the process. The CCW unit seems to value honesty and forthrightness.

Moving is not the same as being caught driving 90 in a school zone.

Looking at your timeline, you have months to go.
