I am curious, why are people so eager to do livescan and training before they are being told to? My deputy told me specifically not to do anything until being advised to do it. It's a pretty simple instruction.

If other deputies advise differently, then of course do that, but in the absence of anything, I would just wait and maybe check in once in a while.

It took me a good year from application to pickup, and that's how it's been tracking for others that started around the same time as me.

If I had known live scan was taking 7 to 8 weeks to complete, I would have done it ahead of my interview. I'm in my 4th week of waiting for the firearms portion to clear. I completely regret not doing the live scan earlier.

I did my live scan and training before my interview, The Deputy said 'great this will save a lot of time', If im denied the training isnt a waste as far as i see it, training is always worth it.

I agree, it's going to take the same amount of time anyway if you get approved. Some deputies get annoyed if you jump the gun and do the livescn and training and some don't care. You wouldn't want anything hurting your chances because in reality you have one chance to "prove" yourself unless something changes in your GC.

As stated before, if you don't mind spending the money who cares lol

I agree, training is always worth it, but I'd argue there is better training than the CCW course available and would cost about the same. The law part of the CCW course is of course very valuable.

Another example when you get the firearms training, you are in the clear. Good luck with the CCW & be safe with it. Hopefully you never need to use it.

Yes, in that aspect it is better to complete the training & livescan beforehand. These things aren't cheap. It's all about risking the money. What if you were denied and you did the training and everything? You would've lost all the money. Not everyone has that kind of money to risk.

Congrats my friend! It will be a breeze and it only lasts about 5-10 minutes.

Read the email and instructions in detail
Bring copies of the documents they are requesting
Dress formal but not over the top
Be honest
If you have a business factor on your GC, bring articles of incorporation and business cards proving that it is your business and bank statements IF you have that listed on your GC

I get what you are saying but your assumed timeline "if" all documents were on hand at the time of interview is just that, an assumption.
Could have also had a deputy that didn't like it, and then it'd be the other way around, but this also is just an assumption on my side.

If people want to spend the money beforehand, that's their choice, all I am saying is in this process nothing is guaranteed and I chose to follow my deputy's instructions.
