I had my interview a couple of days ago, I arrived an hour early and I must have seen 30 plus people arrive and say they were here for their CCW interview and at least 8 to pick up. My Deputy was very nice and professional, went over my GC and asked a ton of questions, in all i was with the deputy for about 45mins, Asked for a couple more documents which i emailed directly to the deputy, I had already completed my training and live scan and i was told this was a good thing as it will save a lot of time.
GC - Dark/light red 6/15/21 Application accepted - paid cash at the counter
    7/20/21 Preemptively started Live scan
    7/23/21 Preemptively completed training

Once you receive your proceed to training email does that mean you’ve pretty much met all the criteria? Has anyone been told to do the training and then been denied?

Yes, you might be denied even though you were told to do the training.

If you are told to proceed to training, it means your good cause has been approved. You could be denied for some other reason but not for good cause.

They asked many additional yes/no questions that are not on the initial application but are similar in nature (police interactions, any disputes with co-workers, drug use, etc.). I provided an entire report folder with all my supporting documents.

I was asked if I had already done the livescan (I said no), and then told to proceed with it, the sooner the better. Said it's at least 8 weeks for them to get the livescan results back before they email to proceed with training.
Was the interview at the Sherman Block Building in Monterey Park?

No. You are approved if you get the training email. Getting the training email means your good cause has been accepted and your live scan results came back ok. Only those who did training on their own without the proceed with training email could potentially still be denied.

Why would they get denied for doing those early? During my interview, the deputy asked if I had already done live scan and training. I said yes. She then asked if I had the training docs with me. I said no (thinking i wouldn't be needing them so I left them at home). She said that's fine and to wait for her to email me in ~90 days and then submit the training docs. Pretty sure she would have taken the training docs from me during interview but I'm going to add another gun so I have to do the qualification again. Once you submit the training docs, you will no longer be able to add or remove any of the weapons. I'll submit it when she asks for it.

Oh ok haha. Yeah if you have any serious criminal records, then you will most likely get denied. But then again, if you disclose that information to the interviewing deputy, then they will most likely tell you to not proceed with livescan. If you don't disclose your criminal history and they tell you to proceed with livescan, then you will obviously get denied once they get the results. So it all depends on your criminal history and the good cause.

A friend of a friend just picked up this week. Don't know the specifics of his timeline but he applied some time in June. I'm honestly starting to lose hope now lol. You can see my timeline... It seems like I might be one of the few still left from April 2021 that hasn't heard anything. I emailed the ccw unit back in December to make sure they had everything they needed from me and that to make sure my app wasn't lost and they told me my file was pending review. Haven't heard anything since. Any other April apps still waiting?

I have 2 prior neighbors whose app's were delivered on the same day as mine, or within a day in June. They still haven't received a call, yet folks from July are getting interviews. Both of them are red as they are business owners and do cash deposits almost daily. I have so far advised both not to call or email, but they read here, FaceBook, and a few other places about July folks, and are getting antsy. Anyone know why they may have been passed over?

They weren't passed over, the person who is handling their file simply hasn't gotten to them yet. If July people got called its because the person in charge of those files was given a smaller stack or moved faster. You're dealing with a gov't agency, there is no chronological order, logic or reason.

Villanueva also mentioned a couple interesting points in the questions. One, it appears that an accepted good cause can be determined based on location. Someone asked what constitutes good cause as he lives near the Antelope Valley high desert and there are drug growers nearby etc. He responded by saying they are slightly more lenient there, because response times are slower as opposed to the basin.

Villanueva also stated that if SCOTUS carry laws go our way, they will abide. Meaning self defense good causes will become accepted.
I hope that SCOTUS decision would fall into "major change in circumstances" which is mentioned in a denial letter that at least me and couple of others got already
