    I need a LIFE!!

I just wrote Matt Rodriguez who is running for LA Co Sheriff on instagram asking his stance on CCW. His response:
"I will issue them to law abiding people. I believe an armed society is a polite society. Matt."
Being an Old Fart, a skeptic, and even a cynic where CCW is concerned in LA.

I also look at what, IS NOT SAID. In campaign promises.

He didn't say "ALL law abiding citizens". Like Bob Lindsey did.

One Robert Heinlein quote does not a CCW advocate make.

Hell, even Beto O'Rouke is now saying he is a "believer in 2A and isn't trying to take anyones guns".

Agreed. In order for me to really believe it he would have to say something clear with no wiggle room like, "I will issue to all non-felons and accept "self defense" as good cause."
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

He must have left out the part in small print, "who contributes to my election campaign..."

If he responds, and does so in a positive 2A CCW manner. Please ask if he is going to make PUBLIC STATEMENTS, to that affect.

Watch for re-phrasing and weasel words in his reply. Remember, state law requires GC and GMC but allows the Sheriff total discretion in how to interpret that. GC can mean anything from "self defense" like in some rural counties, to "no cause is good enough" the way it was in LA for years and still in SF. GMC can also mean anything from "any non-felon" to " any traffic ticket is disqualifying". If SCOTUS eliminates the GC requirement for permits, but the permit process remains, expect absurd tightening of GMC to be the next tool to restrict our rights.

Also, don't forget that there is a significant fraction of the woke left (and especially those in power) that claims that ANYBODY who is a Republican, or conservative, or voted for Trump, or disagrees with any part of their agenda is a racist and therefore is a person of bad moral character. I would not put that past them in SF for example.
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

I will continue to issue CCWs. I believe an armed society is a polite society. Respectfully, Matt

That's probably as good as we are going to get without the opportunity to question him in person. He shows a bit of unfamiliarity with the issue if he thinks the the current policy of issuing for business related risks is about "protecting the business". It's always about protecting the person.

                          Business casual should be fine.

I wore suit shirt, suit pants and suit shoes.
A guy who walked out of the interview room with the deputy was just wearing street clothes. Not sure if it makes a difference but I honestly think it’s better to leave a good impression. You definitely don’t want to walk in there in shorts and flip flops.

Please be aware there is a long delay between when the LiveScan clears online and when the LASD CCW unit receives the results, presumably by snail mail and then processes the results.

In my own journey the email for training came about two months after the firearms portion cleared online.
