Tagging this thread for further interest. Hopefully Villenueva has seen the light, though I remain skeptical this means I myself can get a CCW with a "light green" GC.Comment

Are you saying you do not have Light Green GC or that even though you do you still doubt you’d be issued one?
Applying and getting a GC decision costs only $30....Comment

Hi,
I'm about to apply for the CCW in L.A County. I live in a city under the jurisdiction of LAPD so I will be applying there first. I just have a few of questions.
1. I work in the entertainment industry and have to carry very expensive equipment in sometimes questionable areas. I'm actually about to start shooting a pilot that may require me to go to South LA where we witnessed drug deals last time we scouted the area. Next time I may be carrying $10K+ cameras, so I'm a bit concerned. Does that qualify as Good Cause?
2. Furthermore, we live in a good neighborhood, but our street has been inundated with homeless people. There is literally a camp next to our intersection. I almost got jumped twice and found a homeless guy passed out under my car after he defecated all over my garage. I have a 2 year old and I do fear for my safety and my family's when walking out. Does that also constitute Good Cause?
3. Finally, I am very serious about the process and I want to make sure I read the right threads, but I'm a little confused about what to read exactly. Sorry, I'm fairly new to the forum.
Thank you for your time.Comment

You had said that you would apply with LASD back in January 2019 when you got denied by LAPD. Did you follow up on that, or is there a reason you couldn't skip LAPD altogether, and just take that 2019 denial letter straight to LASD?
I turned in my application / had my initial interview with LAPD this morning, and have posted the details to my continued blog post.L.A. County CCW Trainer
LAPD: 9/28/22 Call to apply
12/6/22 Email/call for interview
2/2/22 Interview
3/23/23 Call for training
5/2/23 P/u permit
LASD: 4/14/21 Mailed app
6/29/21 Interview
8/9/21 Email for training
9/16/21 P/u permitComment

Another factor that we need to keep an eye on: where you live in LA County MAY be a factor in you being issued a license. Someone who lives in rural LA county may use the same/similar GC statement as someone who lives in the San Fernando Valley and be approved, while the person in the SF Valley is denied solely because they live in the more urban part of the county. I think AV mentioned something about this early on, but I'm not sure if we know how he's following it. We've seen this in other counties as well.Comment

I've been on CG for sometime now but i've kept to myself and read many many posts and threads. Tonight, I decided to send my CCW application in the mail to the Hall of Justice. I have done my research on my GC and hopefully they will approve all of my good moral/character information. Excited and a tad anxious to see what is in store.

Re #1: That is an employment related risks (Yellow).Hi,

People forget that articulation of the risk and sufficient evidence to prove your GC actually exists are equally important. By articulation I mean compare a weak GC statement like “I go hiking” versus a much stronger “At least three times a month my wife and I take long, 10+ mile hikes in the X wilderness area on Y and Z trails where there’s spotty cell phone coverage and long law enforcement response times. In the past I’ve encountered non hiking strangers who’ve seemed like drug using or mentally unstable homeless people or criminals. See attached photos, maps and cell phone coverage maps.”
Your interview, background check and emotional stability are critical as well.
Re #2: That’s a daily routine risk (Dark Green), but I’d still mention it.
Re #3: Read my CCW Application Advice thread pinned at the top of the County CCW Info forum and this thread going back to at least New Year’s Day.
Let us know how it goes!Last edited by Paladin; 04-11-2021, 8:44 AM.Comment

Folks, if you are afraid of applying now with only Light Green GC you should ask yourself if you could really shoot a BG doing evil deeds. I mean, seriously, all you’re risking is $30 for a GC determination and the possibility of a GC denial (which has no effect on future applications).
ETA: Are you going to wait until George Floyd riots or Arbery riots start up again and people are getting pulled out of their cars and beat up? Too late to apply then. Don’t be the next Reginald Denny!

CCW (LA County) for being around high risk people?
I'll try to keep this short. Basically I work in protection, where I am consistently around high risk people. The people I work with are actual celebrities and political figures who receive death threats on a consistent basis. Would being around people who consistently receive death threats, and being a possibility of myself being a target, be considered "Good Cause" in LA County?
Thank you.Comment

In section 2 of the LASD CCW application it asks, "Are you now, or have you been, a party to a lawsuit in the last five years? If yes, please explain."
I am a part of the Franklin Armory Title 1 lawsuit, I haven't heard much about it recently. I figure be safe and list it but would it have any negative effect on my application?Comment

You have nothing to lose.. working as a body guard/security in my opinion puts you in the yellow cause.. Apparently los angeles has now gone into the light green cause.. I'm sure you can sit back and take a little time to come up with a great light green cause.. Now go get your ccw so we can all cheer for you.I'll try to keep this short.
