My CCW class instructor informed us that there are some modifications that would deem your firearm prohibited from being added to your CCW such as changing the trigger weight, would changing out the barrel and adding a tungsten guide rod fall under these prohibited CCW mods? Thank you everyone for the info.Comment

1. I am unaware of any official list of approved or disapproved modifications, or official written policy prohibiting them. I believe the issue is strictly up to the instructor you are qualifying with and what he chooses to allow. If you have modifications you want to carry, I would check this out specifically with the instructor before signing up for the class, and find one who will allow what you have.
2. When a firearm is put on your permit it is identified by manufacturer, serial number, caliber, and firearm type (auto or revolver) which they call “model”. No other information about it is recorded at any point in the process. Even if you modify it after qualification, as long as your modification does not alter any of these four things, the modified one you are carrying is legally identical to the one you qualified with, and I don’t see how anybody has either the information or the legal grounds to disallow it.
If anybody has any hard information to the contrary, please set me straight and if possible provide a reference so I can research this.Last edited by MajorCaliber; 04-24-2022, 11:45 AM.I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.
The more time I spend on this forum, the more sense kcbrown makes.

I think barrel size and color (and I assume in other states where it's not been made illegal, it would also state threaded/not) is to make sure that instructor and LASD are on the same page about which gun they are talking about. I also think it depends on who did the mods, for example, if you get a professional company, be that the Glock Store, Taran, Wilson Combat do the mods, they would try to stick with what's legal for you (I hope)*AZ/UT Permits*

The problem is if you happen to use your firearm in self-defense, any modification or update you made to your firearm would either help or hurt your case, even a simple Punisher logo on your grip can make a big difference in court.App Mailed = 7/12/21
