It's almost an automatic denial but not quite...

Ridiculous. It just adds extra unnecessary waiting times to people who are trying to apply with LASD. If they are going to deny it, they should at least do it quickly. Buddy of mine told me the LAPD process takes 90 DAYS!

They only hold interviews Mondays between 7 -10 AM

Maybe add the LAPD process was the longest to process but no fees are paid to apply.

Was issued my LASD CCW recently and the process was smooth and all staff was very friendly.

I had to apply through LAPD first as I live in their jurisdiction.

I encourage all with yellow good cause to apply. In my firearms training class there were 9 people. They ranged from LEO employees to retired senior citizens.

It does mean your good cause is good enough. Handle the interview well and you will get it. There's been plenty of good advice in this thread, so I won't reiterate it here.

All you folks that have been issued should seriously consider sending Sheriff Villanueva a note or card thanking him for liberalizing Good Cause, for you know that he is the one who made this change. Also ask him to seriously consider further liberalization for “recreational activities” and be sure to say you’ll vote for him in 2022. Tell him you’ll financially support his campaign too, if you mean it.

DO NOT use your employer in your GC statement in this case. It will NOT work.

I would strongly suggest that if you're going to use your employer as part of your GC, get a letter from the employer specifically stating the following points:

• Mr. Employee has been with us for ___ years and has always demonstrated maturity and responsibility. For example, ____
• Mr. Employee is authorized by the business owner to be armed during his duties at work.
• The company has agreed to cover the cost of Mr. Employee's CCW training and other security training which will benefit the safety of the business
• We have confirmed that our company's insurance policy (see attached coverage sheet) allows staff members to be armed while performing their duties, subject to prior approval. Mr. Employee is approved.
• The following incidents have occurred (near / at / in) the business and an armed employee would have been advisable because ____. See attached incident reports.
• The company has every reason to trust Mr. Employee to be armed at work and we hope that the Los Angeles Sheriff will issue this permit.

That's the kind of employer letter you need.

If you can get that you will get issued.

If you can't get that, or something close to it, use something else as your good cause.

ALADS...........aka...............Assoc of LA Deputy Sheriffs. Spent 1.3 MILLION dollars to get AV elected. Not because they really liked him. Because most had never heard of him. But because they hated McDonnell so much.

I've been a skeptic and critic of Sheriff AV, but on two fronts, he's been showing that he is actually working to help the citizens of L.A. County. First is his fight against the insane policies that George Gascon has been trying to implement, especially in regards to parole and prison reforms that seek to reduce the voice and representation of crime victims. He actually signed the Gascon recall petition. The second of course is the CCW policies. If I had not actually had my interview, I wouldn't have believed it myself, but the attitude at LASD is completely different right now with regards to CCW issuance. This is my third go around with them and this time my interactions with staff were completely different. As long as the Sheriff keeps on this same track, he will have my support. I'm not too proud to admit when I'm wrong and it seems that AV is showing that I'm wrong. Just as I was about Hutchens in OC.
