I believe we have had at least one member here, and perhaps two who was told to proceed with training and yet got denied. The standards appear to be tightening.

Neither were told to do training. One was told by a deputy who called them to confirm their GC said they were moving them forward but they were not told to do training or received the email for it. Then about a week later they got the dreaded letter

Correct, I was not told to do training. However, LASD still had not received either of my Live Scan results at that point, so the investigator did note that I would be good to go for the next step "as long as that came back clean" (which it obviously did).

In light of recent topics (denials and hearsay), has there been any reports of anyone getting the go ahead to pick up in the past couple of weeks? Wondering if there is a moratorium on issuance period.

I think a lot of us are in the same boat on the last step. I sent in my proficiency on 8/24 and got email confirming receipt on 8/25. Still waiting for the call to come in and pick up my license. Hoping they call soon. 😁😁

It is so depressing to see the MONTHS tick by and they are still processing apps submitted in March and April when the surge was just beginning. I wish somebody could get a direct clarification from AV regarding what he means by his "in the hopper" number.

"Firearm training and certificate received. You will be contacted when your file has been approved and we are ready to issue your license. The approximate wait time after this last step of the process is four (4) weeks. Thank You for your patience."

What do they mean when your file has been approved? I thought being told to do training meant you're pretty much guaranteed now unless you really eff up between now and then. Now I'm worried again lol

I think they mean that they will check the training documents to make sure all is good. I got my permit before the big flood of applicants and even then, it took a few days after I sent in my training certs to get the final "approved, come and pick up your permit" email.

It feels like they are just systematizing their process more. I seriously doubt they would tell you to get training if they planned on denying you.

Have been away fishing in the Sierra backcountry for a few days. Bummed to see no LG approvals and the sentiment that LG may not fly right now. Will be interesting to hear what Paladin comes up with.

As someone said, still think Villanueva deserves my vote. Yes, I got approved, so easy to say, but, I've lived in LA county for 30 years and this is the first time LASD is issuing to regular folks. Before, you had to be an A lister, retired Judge of "friend of the Sheriff", to get issued. It certainly ain't perfect, but it is pretty dramatic progress for LA.
