hahah I hope one day I can get the opportunity to carry. It's nice knowing my own pp doesn't surpass the 2.5 inch barrel of my gun.... hahah

I have looked through the posts and even though I have seen people say the process is limited to 3 guns, has anyone submitted with more than 3 guns on the application? I do understand that I would have to qualify with all of them, that is not an issue. Got my GC statement written, going to be Yellow/LR. This has been a good week at work, no threats to me, no assaults.

Also dumb question: I know I can sign the app, but should I date it without the Deputy present? Also, is there a agency that does a personal background check>

There's no room on the card for more than 3 guns.

You can try, but I'm sure that's your express ticket to denial.

Read the LASD webpage for what do do for the app

Yes, date when you sign. they may not consider it a valid signature otherwise.

For the moment, LA is only putting 3 on a permit, so until they announce otherwise, trying to put on more will, at best, have them choose which 3 to include and I'm sure you would rather make that choice for yourself, or at worst may get you denied for not following instructions.

BTW, there is no legal reason is it limited to 3. The only reason is that the DOJ form has 3 spaces, and for years that all anybody issued. Then somebody figured out that there was no real reason not to issue for more and now many agencies do. San Diego was at 3, briefly moved to 5 and is now unlimited.

Having unlimited number of carries allowed only benefits the issuing agency, they can generate way more money that way. I personally wouldn’t list more than 3 anyways because I can’t see myself rotating through that many firearms for carry. I will carry the weapon I’m most proficient and comfortable with.

Unlimited carries also protects you in a traffic stop if you are not headed directly to the range, an FFL, home, or work. You can stop for gas legally, for example, even if you have multiple (even unloaded) firearms in the car.

I would love to have at least 5 handguns to list, personally.

It also protects you in other situations such as the lock that you think locked, didn't actually lock, the gun you thought was unloaded isn't, a malfunction leaves you with a round stuck somewhere in the gun that can't be safely cleared in the field etc. as well as other options to carry if your primary EDC is in the shop, or confiscated in the event you actually have to use it. Other than possibly a few more bucks for certification, there is no reason to not keep as many options as possible open.

This was my rationale for listing more, at least I am covered if I was stopped.

There is no statue against you stopping for gas, stopping for lunch, or any such activity while transporting an unloaded handgun in a locked container as long as you are traveling between lawful purposes. Only registered “assault weapons” must be transported directly from one destination to another destination for lawful purposes.

It's pretty rare that I'm transporting fire arms if it's not my EDC...outside of going to the range...I don't really bring firearms to the FFL either...

But I guess if you want to cover your ***...but I don't think LASD is in the business of adding more on the list to cover our ***.

Last week didn't really count as a week on the calendar for LASD.

No interview or pick up calls at all.

BIG WEEK FOR US BOYS. LET'S GO 3RD WEEK OF APRIL KIDS!
