Been out of the loop for a while with this. But with this news, what is "passable" as good cause with this news from LASD issuing? Increasing homeless population by where I live good enough, with the building of a homeless shelter near by?

Hey guys,

I reside in LA county and I recently mailed my application on 6/3 to DOJ. My Good Cause statement is regarding increase in violence and hatred towards Asian-Americans post COVID, which unfortunately I've experienced. I mentioned couple detailed scenarios of what unfolded in my GC statement and how us Asian-Americans are experiencing additional layer of violence and discrimination. I really didn't want to use my race card as my GC but this threat is very real and serious.

I know that LA county is Light Green but I don't know if my GC will be enough. If anyone have something similar as their GC and have been contacted/rejected/approved, please share.

Wow didn't know it was that much. I did quick search and there are different fees for each classification. I wonder what the difference is? I'm assuming each category gets the same results back or is it the length of time they have to keep reporting to the agency?

I was asked if I have been racially targeted during my interview. It is something on LASD's radar. Not sure if they're willing to give you a CCW permit for playing the card though.


When he asked about my situation, I told the deputy I hate to play the victim card and I especially hate to play the race card. I don't want to add the media frenzy of separating us poors. I said the verbal attacks on me, personally, I would not label as racist. But that's because I believe everyone at heart is a good person and not inherently racist.


But my GC, yellow, had other more solid good causes. I didn't need to lean on my race during the interview. If that's all your going in with, make it worth it.

The difference in fees is how much the location will charge just to do the live scan service. The doj fees is a fixed rate. The place I went to charges 30 dollars for the live scan service. A different place I went to in the past charged 50 dollars + other fees.

Doj fee is $93. The service for me was $22. $115 total

Oh ok I just saw this and didn't know why each category had different rates. I just assumed everyone got the same info so didn't make sense there were different rates.

Thanks for the input. I did sense that this may not be enough but I also feel that the GC is getting a bit more lenient judging by what I'm seeing. I'll try my luck but I'm not going to expect anything.
