5/24/2021. Got a call today while i was at work for my interview. I got a voicemail to call back. I did and the Deputy told me they would call me back. I called back 2.5 hours later, no longer in office. Sad face. Hopefully i get a call tomorrow.

Also, check hasn't cashed yet (Thankfully as my account is kinda ****ed at the moment w fraudulent purchases).

Interviews were as soon as 5/26. I took next week to give my employer time for what she wanted from them; specific duties, verification of me being on call and possibly working late hours.
Gc listed in application was yellow, light green, and dark green. The deputy insisted on going with work related. She was extremely nice and polite. I hope it goes smooth..

Very nice! Good luck on the interview! I dropped mine off 4/8 to local station. Deputy there was great, had a chat about how he hopes more folks are able to get theirs approved. Still waiting on a call/ letter. Light green GC.

If you've been told to get the training, then they have approved your "good cause" statement. It's right there in the statute:
Cal. Pen. Code 26165(e) "The applicant shall not be required to pay for any training courses prior to the determination of good cause being made pursuant to Section 26202."

You MAY go get training prior to clearing your livescan. They cannot tell you to do so. This way, if your livescan comes back and they decide not to issue, you can't ask them for money back. Or see that statute.


Deputy was very clear with it with me. Several people have been very clear about it in the last 10 pages. It's clear that if you want to get ahead of the curve, go get training if you're confident your GC and BGC will pass.

If you want to take your time, follow the statutes and extend the application process out another 2 - 3 weeks, it's a free country.

+1 This. When I was handed the list of trainers and my livescan form I was told, verbatim "I cannot stress this enough, doing both of these things will NOT guarantee you getting your CCW, But I encourage you to get training done while you wait for livescan because classes are filling up quick"

He then told me "If everything I said was truthful and livescan comes back good, I'm set, but that's the only thing holding you back".

Hope they find my 3/16 application somewhere in the pile this week. Feeling pretty confident the station I dropped it off at filed it in the trashcan. Emailed them recently and got the standard "you will be contacted when your case is assigned" response. Debating re-applying, but I can see how that may cause some issues

First time poster here. Hang in there. My application was submitted on 3/26 and got my call on 5/17, for a meeting on 5/19. I never got an email, just showed up at the time and place (Chatsworth) per my phone conversation. I turned my application into my local LASD, and I think that's where the time can differ, depending on how fast your local department gets the paperwork through the pipeline.

Is an interview mandatory before a decision is made or can they reject because the GC does not meet any established criteria?

I just got the call but I wasn't able to pick up. I don't transport money and there's no credible threat to my life. Part of me just thinks I'm wasting my time and wasting the time of the interviewer should I go in for the interview unless they've approved my app for an interview with GC.
