Anybody know what the renewals are like with LASD? I?m curious if they are letting peoples permits expire while they process a renewal.

From what I've read here is that they're processing renewals with a couple of days to spare. So it won't expire but they're cutting it close.

Had my phone interview last Friday (I'm a July 2022 applicant, entered into the system Nov 7, 2022). I was able to add another handgun to the list. They said the Proceed to Training email should take 3-5 months to receive (3 if you have no criminal record).

You added another handgun over the phone to your CCW application or through the firearms training class?

Thanks for the update... looks like most of us July applicants are far away for an interview (hopefully).

I added my firearm over the phone during the CCW interview. Have your firearm serial number handy when they call you.

My interviewing sheriff loaded the information about the pistol on his end, using the serial number, and added it to my app.

Yup this is what happened to me as well. Some notes about the interview process - they ask a LOT of questions and you're expected to answer yes or no on the spot, so be sure to take the time to think about all of the interactions you've had with law enforcement, so you're not caught off guard.

I too applied July '22. And I just got phone interview on 01-05-24 and just submitted all my paperwork. Does anyone know if I can swap guns on my list during training? I got some new stuff since applying...

I was hoping it wouldn't take a year... and its now been 21 months haha.

My timeline in case it helps anyone:

                        6/22 - mailed out application
                        11/23 - interview call
                        1/24 - proceed to training

I had a few days off in Dec and tried to get the training out of the way. Unfortunately my proceed to training email came in Jan. I called and the person I spoke with confirmed I need to complete the 16 hour course.

Thankfully safeinsight was able to move me into the 16 hour course since the first 8 hours is the same as what I completed 2 weeks prior. I had to do the qual again though.

Just waiting for the call to schedule pickup.

Thank you for sharing this information. I was wondering how many people this was going to happen to. "This" being tried to get training in before end of the year to avoid the 16hr course. Glad to hear safeinsight worked with you to get 8 more hours in training.

In essence training is no longer good for 1 year.

Does anyone know how long between turning in your training to when you get a call for pick up? I submitted my training a week or so ago and called and confirmed they received it just wondering what the average time wait is right now after submitting training

Not sure yet, but I'll start looking into it again soon. If anyone has a good experience from a 16hr course, it would be great info to hear.
