Thank you for this update because it just prompted me to go and check the permit schedule and I just got a 10/18/21 of this month which would be a move up from my last scheduling of 11/29/21.

Great reminder people to check, recheck and check again! LoL

Surprised that I got an email stating that I didn’t need to come in to pick up my CCW and that it would be mailed to me. It came to my house, one day after the appointment date.

That is new and of course they could have done this all during COVID when they were so backed up due to limited ability to schedule appointment in their facility. Glad they finally figured it out.

When you have to come to pick up you put your thumbprint on the paper CCW. I wonder if they are now skipping that now as to be able to just mail them.

Did you get paper, plastic, or both?

FYI...SD County Gun Owners just posted this in their weekly email...

                This just in...

I just spoke with the Sheriff's CCW department (licensing) and we have some good news.

They have added appointment times to Monday's schedule. This will improve wait times to get your CCW significantly.

AND... they are testing renewals and issuance by mail to see if this process works. They were able to find a way to capture the renewal's thumbprint, so it looks like they are able to process more renewals.

All good news. SDCGO is continuing our work to make sure every sane, trained, law-abiding San Diego who wants to, can get a CCW.

Was this for a renewal or a brand new application? Thats crazy that it took 1 day. And Awesome. Congrats. I had my appointment on Monday Oct 4th and was expecting to wait the full 90 days based on what they said at the interview.

I believe he means that SDSO canceled his permit pickup appointment and sent his permit via mail instead(which was received 1 day after his scheduled appt). Looking at the thread, it looks like dano was approved around day 90, and completed training, and uploaded his certificate last month. I am on day 51 of 90 and still haven't heard a thing. From my understanding, it is still taking about 90 days for approval.

That is correct. The entire process took me 15 months.

The entire process took me 15 months. Sorry for the confusion. The appointment that I was talking about was the appointment to pick up my CCW after submitting my CCW course completion.

My thumbprint was pre-printed from the digital livescan image. You can tell it wasn't an ink print that I did. I guess a printed digital copy is sufficient now.

Do both have the thumbprint? On my last renewal, the paper has the print, but the plastic does not.
