Should I include the photography or skip it and do one reason?I would bring at least the schedule C from your taxes, contracts or invoices for your customers, printed promotional materials if available, you should be fine on the pen testing. On the photography a list of your equipment and its value and some kind of maps showing places you go and their danger or inaccessibility.

Document the cost of your cameras I would think if they are on the valuable/expensive side. These days a new Iphone might meet that. $1K+ right?
It's all about documenting. Think if they get audited, they want prove they didn't issue to someone who made something up out of whole cloth.Last edited by CessnaDriver; 10-02-2021, 7:55 PM.

Business permit issued by city.
I used my IT consultancy as part of my GC. I used my City SD business permit, CA state sales permit, and my most recent Statement of Information.
I'm incorporated (no schedule C), so I needed to prove the business basically exists and that I have a position in it (Statement of Information).
They did not verify my employment AFAIK. I assume because they have no interest in having me verify my own employment, or they used my documentation and independent research on their own.Comment

I am in the county. In SD County there is no business permit. And I don't sell a physical product which makes it kinda weird.Business permit issued by city.

My good cause was along the lines of frequenting remote parts of the county for target shooting, where cell service was poor and police response time would be delayed. Part of this was also my carrying several thousand dollars worth of firearms, and the value of my Tacoma, making me an increased target for theft. They wanted pictures of the guns, the truck, and the remote area that I frequent.
This is part of what they'll go over with you in your first meeting/interview, and let you know if what you've included is enough or too much. I would try to keep your good cause to half a page but certainly no longer than a page. I'd probably also include a picture or two of any equipment you have stated makes you an increased target for theft.
It's a bit of a balancing at. You want to try to keep things brief and concise because they have to process a lot of these things. But you want to also give them enough info and proof. Honestly, I think a lot of this is CYA on their part. If you do ever have to shoot someone, they want to be able to substantiate that they did their due diligence to make sure you were legit."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

Dunno then, DBA filing if applicable? I wouldn't want to upload a Schedule C. You can ask if redacted Schedule C might work.I am in the county. In SD County there is no business permit. And I don't sell a physical product which makes it kinda weird.

Or just drop the professional reason entirely and use something easier to prove. One of my GCs was that I ride motorcycles in remote areas, that are frequently out of range of cell service. My proof was my motorcycle registration and a Google maps timeline of a ride a did and a picture of my bike on a mountain.
You only need one GC that works. I went overkill. SDSO no longer issues limited-purpose CCWs, so any issuance for any purpose covers all legal purposes.Comment

I would include all reasonable causes. If it's too much they can ignore or have you remove what that don't want. That's a much easier fix than starting with too little.I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

I printed out my application, a copy of my good cause statement, and my most recent 2 utility/cable bills to establish residency. i also printed out a couple bank statements. I brought my passport too, had no idea what I needed and I didn't want my appointment to get bumped back because I didn't have something they wanted, but turns out I didn't need any of it.So I keep seeing people talk about taking in their paperwork or getting all their papers together. What kind of paperwork are people gathering?
So my personal business is part-time and could have me wandering around a parking lot or an office building at night (pen testing, vulnerability assessment), and I have a hobby of photography.
I'm a sole prop, no business license or llc. I used bank statements and my schedule c to establish my business as part of my good cause. The nice man that went over my application with me at station one didn't say anything about my GC, and although my originally supplied residency docs were from april, I haven't been contacted to supply more recent ones.
Just patiently waiting =)Comment

I have an appt for first interview later next month after applying back in May. This sounds like some great advice after the interview to pass the time of 90days waiting period. The wait sucks, use it to study on self defense laws, research which legal defense fund protection plan is best for you, pick some holsters,, practice dry fire draws, get comfortable with clothing you choose. You can even wear your conceal gear without the gun to just get used to it.
Thank you Sir.Comment

That actually doesn't sound like a bad wait time, given the Rona, how big the backlog has been, and the initial dates that some folks have reported. Hopefully this is an indication that they're getting a handle on things.
Good luck!

I posted back earlier in this thread that my original first appt available was oct 2022. Then March 2022 then...then... and finally got this Nov 2021.
So i did the website stalking for a while and got a few appts moved up, FYI.
No not an indication. LoLComment
