I can't make up my mind if I'm more angry about having to reapply every two damn years or the amount of money I have to pay every two damn years! It's ALL unconstitutional if my opinion.

It sucks, hopefully it keeps getting a little easier and we keep pushing for better. I temper it with the fact we actually have CCWs being issued because it was a unicorn my whole life prior to the last few years.

Politics is downstream from culture, and the culture is becoming more and more gun friendly. I wouldn't expect California to change because these people in Sacramento are sick, but maybe in like 10-15 years.

Things are swinging hard now, but it takes time. Leftists/Liberals/whiny millennials aren't having kids, while independent and conservative families are. This is a gross generalization but there's facts behind it.

I certainly won't be surprised if things get worse before they get better, politicians like to use these sorts of things to organize the population into groups that vote a certain way, which they can manipulate.

Example: pistol braces. nearly all who have this, and also vote, are going to be voting republican. by make possession of this benign and common item a felony, politicians can attack and remove the voting rights of those who in california would be voting in opposition to them. it doesn't have to happen all at once, it's a long game, and a means to an end. outright gun confiscation doesn't have the necessary support, but over time, the opposition voices are stamped out.

Well today is the 4 week mark to receive my permit in the mail and I am still waiting. Man they really drag out the process.

Well, that was reassuring but I still had my doubts. Fast forward to the background check. The guy that did the background check called me and said flat out that he wasn't going to contact my employer since I work at a school and the GC had nothing to do with work - he was true to his word (and seemed to understand the eyebrows that type of call would have raised at a school).

Just heard that sheriff Bill Gore has announced he has decided to retire earlier than previously stated. His official last day will be February 3rd 2022. Interim sheriff has yet to be announced and most likely will not be any candidates running for the position.

CCW permits could disappear in a blink. In fact I would say the odds are greater that the next sheriff will be anti-CCW and not pro-CCW.

                Keep your fingers crossed.

I think we are both on the same timeline. It is now just past 4 weeks since they told me they would mail the permit in "3 to 4 weeks". Still waiting. The whole process has been about a year so far.

It's really something to hear people in other areas or states get their permit in a matter of weeks or days...or not even need it at all due to constitutional carry.

Hope all is well and happy Friday!

I wanted to ask you a little about your experience with the CCW progress since you got your in the mail recently. I have my appointment to see them on 1/31/2022.

What can I expect to happen in that appointment and how best can I be prepared for it! Is this is when you find out if your approved for the CCW or no?

Thank you for your insight! Much appreciated!

I agree politics dictate our rights here. I believe it was Gore's last re-election that prompted his switch open up issuing. It was the challenge from Meyers - who was pro-CCW, that forced his hand.

No idea where the current Undersheriff stands but I would hedge my bets on anti.
Stop calling them Lawmakers. It only encourages them.

According to her son, she's pro-ccw. BUT... looking at her website she's endorsed by every progressive leftist in the county! I don't trust her.

Ya I think we are on the same timeline. I called the sheriffs today and they were very nice and looked it up for me. They said mine was being mailed out today so I should see it in a few days. So hopefully yours was mailed out at the same time.
