For those that have not voted yet but are going to, here is info I found on the San Diego Republican site. The following is a quote from Sheriff candidate John Hammerling:

" SUPREME COURT RULES ON PERSONAL CARRY

PERMITS (CCW’S)



The Second Amendment is a guarantor of our freedom as Americans. Individuals have the right to keep and bear arms. Our elected officials must ensure that citizens are able to protect their homes and their families, free from governmental overreach. Sheriffs in California are, by statute, entrusted with the role of approval of personal carry permits (CCW’s). In June, the United States Supreme Court affirmed what I have said all along: Constitutionally protected rights such as the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms must be made equally available to all responsible citizens, allowing each individual to assess their own need for personal safety or self-defense. I will ensure the Sheriff’s Office will be efficient, prompt, and timely in carrying out this important duty. We will issue concealed carry permits for all persons who complete the required training and demonstrate good moral character by passing the required background investigation."

Republican Sheriff William Gore caused hundreds of thousands of dollars of NRA $ to be spent. Hemmerling sounds good to me. Let's make it against the law for all people diagnosed with Bi Polar d/o or Schhizophrenia to own guns.

If you had read what the dude has done with Red Flag laws, you'd be saying, "For no other reason this dude does NOT get my vote."

He speaks out of both sides of his ***. He may be saying the right words with respect to CCW permits...but who knows if he is telling the truth and he damn sure isn't pro gun. His stance on Red Flag laws makes me highly suspicious of his stated position on CCW.
