too early to tell....really? do you realize how long pot has been used? how long it was legal before "our" society deemed it "evil"?

wrong. look at what i quoted. His argument was that I would change my opinion if someone hit me with their car while high. I maintain my position because it is the logical one, not an emotional one subject to change.

Since you cant seem to connect the logic with the parallel gun example, Ill just say that internet gun forums are quite the anomaly. When it comes to guns, everyone here will defend to the end the logic of personal responsibility, and 'harmless when used correctly' mantra, etc etc when it comes to guns. But with something like pot, that same line of reasoning goes out the window, and you end up with people who don't put any logical thought into what they are actually saying. And certain gun owners wonder why they are stereotyped...

I'm still waiting for someone to explain how POT is the problem here.

Pot users, stay home or at a friends, listen to some tunes. Stay off my streets. Use a designated driver.
The test is already developed. Just as a DUI test checks for the nystagmus of the eye and poor coordination. The officers are trained in Field Sobriety testing, so i'm sure they can attest that a person is under the influence of marijuana while driving. " 21352 (a) B it is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug, to drive a vehicle."

So you still can be arrested for it, esp CHP. They'll do it without question...

Funny you should say that... I went to Humboldt State in the mid-90's. Every dang VW microbus hogging the left lane had stickers advocating legalization. Peter Tosh wrote their mantra.

Leading up to our last election who was worried about Marijuana becoming legal in CA? Several groups, including pot growers in Humboldt and Mendocino counties. For the big-time growers the illegality of what they do keeps prices inflated, yet they know what they do is relatively low-risk there and often viewed as part of the local culture. The small-operation growers are the ones who we hear about getting robbed all the time.

And while a lot of people abuse Prop 215, look at OxyContin. Essentially legally prescribed heroin. Kids steal it from their parents and discover they can get heroin cheaper and easier. Yet everybody spends their time debating whether or not pot is a problem.

I smoked pot a handful of times in college, and yes, I even inhaled, but I never got into the whole "being a pothead" thing and it has been about 15 years since I hit the bong. I don't think pot should be legal simply because I'd like to smoke it without fear of getting in trouble. I do, however, feel we have bigger things to worry about.

Our debt ceiling, the Dollar losing its status as the world's reserve currency, Union labor vs. overseas manufacturing, and the list goes on. Make weed legal to grow, tax the people who don't have normal jobs or pay income tax yet profit from growing it, slap a few warning labels on the box like we do with McDonald's coffee (Caution...DO NOT pour on crotch!) and focus on bigger issues.

There is a drug out there, its called Marinol. The drug manufacturers cannot copy a naturally occurring drug and patent it so they make little modifications like adding a methyl group and then patent it. So, Marinol is much like thc but not the same. I have talked to many people taking it and they say it helps with their appetite but its not as potent an effect as when they smoke mj.

Pssssst. Don't mention they do this while offering incentives to HMO's to encourage physicians to prescribe their products. Or that their legal narcotics are being subsidized by health insurance companies. I won't say anything if you don't.

Still, I agree the "unemployed" pot-grower with the BMW 735 should pay taxes if we have to!

Marijuana is not harmless. Ask the 40,000 mexicans that have died since 2006 about americas love of pot. it should be illegal. it gives cops a reason to consensually encounter people and find worse things than weed on them

There was no evidence that Δ9-THC was carcinogenic in rats or mice.

They died because its illegal here. If it was legal why would we import mexican marijuana? No one ever says "hey lets get some ****ty mexican dirt weed packed with leftover chemicals from the nutes."

As far as the smoking goes, the mechanism for absorbing THC while smoking marajuana is inhalation and absorption through the capillary membranes in the lungs. Many other medications are absorbed through the capillaries as well. For instance: albuterol, atrovent, nitrous oxide Etc. Etc. These medications can also be administered in other manners, but absorption through the lungs is the easiest and most effecient way. So yes, THC as well, can be administered in different manners: Orally, Topically or by Inhalation.

Thanks for your first partially true answer in this thread - You have a pro-pot agenda.

You go on to say...just cause someone is high on pot and gets into a car accident and kills someone...really isn't pot's fault...just because someone becomes emotionally addicted to pot...really isn't pot's fault...see pot is harmless...

Dude, you are posting in a LE subforum, we see the effects and affects of pot literally every day on duty...my experience has proven that pot is not harmless for the reasons you choose not to see.

FWIW I watched The Union also

California has a great compassionate use act. IMO you have the freedom to do whatever you want in your own home. Just don't go driving around giving it to minors or wrecking your car and hurting other people.

Lastly, too much of anything is not harmless. I will defer to the qualified medical community to determine pot/THCs toxicology.

                                LD50 = 1270 mg/kg = 2.8 grams per pound

A 100lb male would need to absorb 28lbs of marijuana to have a 50% chance at dying.

Also, since when do people have no personal responsibility. If its marijuana's fault people kill each other doesn't that mean guns are the cause of murders? Shouldn't we make all guns illegal?
