    Marijuana

I stop cars and contact people all the time who are in possession of marijuana and the physicians recommendation. Not a damn thing we can do!

I had a Parolee on parole for drug sales who was transporting 8 ounces of green bud, had $400 cash in his sock, a scale, and packaging materials. I hooked him for sales/transportation. DA dropped the charges and parole cut the guy loose.

So if you have a headache, back pain, attention deficit disorder (which most of us men do), you can get a physicians recommendation and legally grow and possess marijuana. California is totally up and setting a poor example for young people. This is all a part of the destruction of our communities.

It is legal to deal marijuana with a bogus physicians recommmendation, yet it is illegal for an honest citizen to own a combat (assault) rifle.

I don't know about you guys, but where I work, the #1 problem with home invasions and dope rip offs and shootings is over MARIJUANA!!!!

These marijuana outlets are making millions of dollars in TAX FREE cash.

DRUG DEALING IS LEGAL IN CALIFORNIA.

My department will hire someone who has not used METHAMPHETAMINE in 3 years. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???????? No one who has used meth should ever be a cop! Rediculous!

Ok, Im done venting for now!

pot is harmless. The over regulation of it is what causes problems. Since prop 215 has gone pretty mainstream, a lot of the gang activity in my area has calmed down because people can just go to a dispensary to buy pot and not have to worry about dealing with the shady gang banger types anymore. Of course the gang banger types will never fully go away, but pot seemed to be their biggest cash cow because its in so high demand. I'm glad that society is at least starting to wisen up and stop giving so much power to something as trivial as pot. When prohibition fully goes away, the problems you are experiencing will dissipate as well.

Good luck on the job out there!

I had 30k worth of damage done to one of my rental properties and the LEO told me "there is nothing we can do about it short of vandilism because it's going to be legal in a few months anyways..."

So... I had 40 plants of this crap in my property and they didn't go after the guy for it... Peoples arguement is "if it was legal stuff like that wouldn't happen." I call BS, I don't change my morals to make low lifes happy.

if MJ was like tobacco or alcohol, wouldn't the crime rate go down?

These marijuana outlets are making millions of dollars in TAX FREE cash.
so then legalize it so that Marboro is selling it at every 7-11 with a nice tax stamp on it, like they do for cigs (I think they still put a stamp on every pack).

what is morally wrong with pot? Sure I understand vandalism and other issues related to prohibition and a black market, but what does that have to do with marijuana itself? I'm not trying to stir anything up with you guys, just curious what the reasoning is here. We all know what happened during the booze prohibition, so why is this any different? I firmly believe its the law that is the issue here and nothing else. I'd be curious to see any logical reasoning against this. Again, not trying to start an argument, but I have yet to hear a logical position on this forum explaining why pot should be illegal. The only arguments I've seen here are literally word for word the same argument that anti-gunners use, only substitute guns for the word pot. This has always been a fascinating topic of discussion for me, because I believe that in a free country, there has to be a darn good reason to make something illegal that almost everyone can get behind. I have yet to see that logical argument made. interesting discussion topic to say the least.

If you look at crime statistics for major metropolitan areas, most of the shootings and home invasions are marijuana related. Pot is not trivial. Kids are now learning that marijuana is ok. It is not ok. It is a brain altering substance that dumbs people and causes lung cancer.

The THC contents are high and it has absolutely no health benefits. It is a cure for NOTHING.

How come there are huge campaigns against the tobacco companies? Yet Marijuana is more toxic to the body, causes lung cancer, and inhibits a persons abilities to drive and operate equipment. Yet there is no left wing campaign against marijuana, just the cigarette companies.

The activists who love to smoke marijiuana hate the cigarette companies?? How does that make sense?

Also the grow process is an environmental hazard and destroys property with huge mold problems.

So I have a career job and a second business. The government taxes the hell out of me and I can barely hold my head above water. I do everything legal, yet I lost my house, took a cut in pay, and still work full time.

The jack hole down the street at the marijuana collective is raking in millions at a non-profit rate. He is stoned and collects welfare while he drives a BMW 735. HE can afford the $15k a month lease on his space because that is chump change for him. He sells marijuana, it is not DONATION.

98% of the people i come into contact with who have a physicians card have headaches, back pain, or attention deficit disorder. I have only met about 2% who actually have a serious ailment like cancer. Most cancer patients undergo radiation and Kemotherapy and do not smoke marijuana. The whole thing is a sham!

Can't compare booze to pot. Not everyone drinks booze to get drunk. Everyone who smokes pot smokes it to get high!

Bottom line is this,,,,Marijuana advocates used the MEDICAL angle to move 10 steps closer to legalizing weed. It is an excuse that is highly abused just so people can smoke pot. I don't care if you smoke pot. You cannot lead a productive life smoking pot and you put yourself at risk of lung cancer and brain cell death. That is your thing, so go for it. But don't support a lie that it is medicine. It is not medicine. IF it were medicine, you would not smoke it!!!

Not only that SEACOW, you defend pot as being harmless, yet you prove my point that the whole medicinal thing is a scam. Because you do not focus on any of the medicinal qualities. You focus only on MORALE issues. The law does not address MORALE issues with pot.

I for one will not work around any dumb nut who smokes pot. I don't like being around tranquilized people. I especially do not care for the message being pushed on our young people. The left wing politicians are eating this crap up for votes.

I don't smoke Pot, but I am Libertarian and believe in an individual's rights to do what they want to their body, whether it's smike cigs (which I hate the smell) pot, or drink booze...bottom line is Prohibition in this country doesn't work, and creates crime, and yes, I CAN compare MJ to Booze. It's safer. Booze is the biggest cause of domestic violence and drunk driving. Not too many people smoking pot get violent and mean... they usually stay home eating cheetos and watch comedy. It is fallacy to legalize booze and not Pot, and even though Pot is no cure, if people are in pain and in chemo, pot at least gives them an appetite and kills some of the pain. The reason MJ crime is so high is simple: it's illegal.
Legalize it and tax it, and sell it, and stop making it a crime.

Thanks for replying. I understand your concerns on the crime issue, but as I stated before, I believe they are solely due to the prohibition of pot and not pot itself. If pot were just a simple consumer commodity like booze or cigs or tylenol or anything else, we wouldn't be having these issues.

THC DOES have health benefits, and if you would like to have a scientific discussion as to why, i'd love to have that discussion. It's probably not appropriate for this thread (thread jacking) so I will not elaborate further unless you want to take this discussion in that direction. Also, why does it even have to have some super clear purpose to be legal? Cigs are pointless and they are legal.

The problems you mentioned with mold, environmental messes, etc, again are related to prohibition. You don't see people ruining national forest land with their illegal distilleries and tobacco grows simply because they don't have to. Its legal, therefore more convenient to get it through legal channels.

the MJ activists I know who hate the tobacco companies are simply angry because tobacco is legal and scientifically more damaging then MJ, yet their plant is illegal. Cigs have physically addicting substances in it such as nicotine. Pot has no such chemical properties. This is why they are upset.

Lastly, the financial issues you mentioned are again related to prohibition. MMJ is in a class by itself because it has unusual regulations, is non-taxable, and a black market for it still exists.

so do cigarettes. And what is the crime rate due to cigarette use. how much of the crime stats due to MJ are because there is a black market for MJ. that the cost for MJ is artifically high because of the legality issues.

Also the grow process is an environmental hazard and destroys property with huge mold problems.
because of the legality issues. remove that concern and you get proper outdoor or greenhouse grows.

The jack hole down the street at the marijuana collective is raking in millions at a non-profit rate. He is stoned and collects welfare while he drives a BMW 735. no disagreement there. fully legalize it and you get rid of that "wink wink" deal. When your average user can go into 7-11 and buy a pack of Marlboro Greens for the price of a pack of cigs, with the state getting its tax share, just like it does for cigarettes, you'll clean up a lot of the underground nature of MJ that enables that.

I agree that many people do abuse the current MMJ system, but there are those that do legally use it. for pain management, would you rather a person use narcotics to dull the pain or some MMJ? Or with regards to that cancer patient, if some MMJ gives him the munchies and he can eat, instead of being too nausues to eat, is that a bad thing?

I am for Weed been used as medicine but it should have a limit, you should be able to grow it, have a scale or anything that would allow you to sale it. There need to be a pill made just like every other pain killer out there. This would stop a lot of the home invasions and other drug related crime. I also think there should be an age limit like alcohol.
